2 ISAV - International Students' Association of Vaasa
1. We are a non-profit organization mainly focussing on all students studying at one of the 5 HEI in Vaasa. 2. Our name is International students association of Vaasa, so you might think that we are only interested in the international students here but since our idea is to create more interactions between the finnish student and the business community and the international student community I would say Finnish students play a main role in our association. 3. The reason why we started this is because there is a gap between the finnish students and the international student community. We all can feel it. When I came here as a Masters student in 2011, I used to notice events inside the campus and only Finnish students are taking part in it so I felt the difference. Although the international students are very much welcomed to those events there is still a gap in commnication and this is what we are trying to bridge. 4. Many PhD students who come here only for their doctoral studies won't even have a tutor or someone to help them in their first days. So we are here to express that no there is a community for us and we don't have to feel left alone. 5. Our focus is mainly on culture and careers. which means our events will be based on these two topics mainly. We try to create a regular venue for interaction and discussion . ISAV - International Students' Association of Vaasa Non-profit organization. Started in December, 2014 and registered in May, 2015 To support international degree and PhD students in integration - Focus on culture and career Bring people together - Facilitate interaction at different levels 2

3 As I said before our mission is to break cultural sterotypes and help people know the other culture at the same time maintain their own cultural traditions. MISSION To create a more inclusive and supportive intercultural community in Vaasa.
