Q3: Agencies conducting surveys over the next two years to obtain infra-annual statistics and metadata No agencies except possibly Canada who may conduct surveys on private new capital expenditure - In Canada, a project was underway but stopped due to human resources shortage. - One of the major issues with this project is the availability of complete infra-annual information on capital-type projects, quarterly or monthly, to ensure complete coverage of the universe. 25-27 June Working Party STES - OECD Paris

Q6: welcome inclusion of an item in the agenda for the June 2007 STESWP meeting -14 agencies welcomed: KOR, FIN, GRC, NOR, NZL, SLV, JPN, BEL, CAN, NDL, CHN, ITA, UK, AUS - 9 agencies do not welcome: HUN, SLO, POL, AUT, DEU (NSA), TUR, MEX, USA, LUX - 10 agencies provided no comment: CHE, CZE, DEN, DEU (Bundersbank), PRT, SWE, BRA, CHL, RUS, ESP 25-27 June Working Party STES - OECD Paris

9 As a result of the replies:
approximately 40% of agencies currently collect infra-annual quantitative statistics on new capital expenditure or company profits, and one agency may introduce a new such survey within two years 27% (9 of 33) agencies did not welcome the inclusion of this task in the agenda for the 2007 STESWP meeting to identify and discuss benefits and possibilities of further STESWP work in these areas to harmonise national practices. 25-27 June Working Party STES - OECD Paris

10 25-27 June 2007 - Working Party STES - OECD Paris
56% (5 of 9) of the agencies which did not welcome or 60% (6 of 10) of agencies that provided no comment on the inclusion of this item in the STESWP agenda currently collect some information on these topics which would therefore facilitate sharing of information and practices in this field; 29% (4 of 14) of the agencies which supported this work do not currently collect any information; 4 agencies without special surveys and administrative sources collect some related information for capital expenditure; and countries which do not conduct surveys or use administrative sources to obtain such data use partially related data provided by other sources (generally other government department) or calculate them as a residual in NAs. 25-27 June Working Party STES - OECD Paris

11 25-27 June 2007 - Working Party STES - OECD Paris
Consequently, although results do not provide overwhelming support for future STESWP work on this topic, some additional observations lend support to the idea 25-27 June Working Party STES - OECD Paris

12 25-27 June 2007 - Working Party STES - OECD Paris
Thank you. 25-27 June Working Party STES - OECD Paris
