3 AutoCAD Technology Cycle
2006 2007 2008 2009 2010 2011 AutoCAD 2007 AutoCAD 2008 AutoCAD 2009 Same DWG format Binary Compatible ObjectARX Visual Studio 2005 Same DWG format Binary Compatible ObjectARX Visual Studio 2008 AutoCAD 2010 AutoCAD 2011 AutoCAD 2012 This is the typical 3 year AutoCAD technology release cycle – changing DWG, binary compatibility and Visual Studio once very 3 years. But not this next 3 years.

5 AutoCAD Technology Cycle
2009 2010 2011 2012 2013 2014 AutoCAD “Jaws” AutoCAD “Kastle” Same DWG format AutoCAD Same DWG format Binary Compatible ObjectARX Visual Studio 2008 AutoCAD 2010 AutoCAD 2011 AutoCAD 2012 Preview “Shoreline” Same DWG format Binary Compatible ObjectARX Visual Studio 2005 Due to major infrastructure changes including One Graphics System (OGS) we saw earlier in the day - and Fiber removal mentioned last year and you’ll hear more about later – changes that cannot be done in one release, and we don’t want to wait another 3 years to do, we’ll be breaking binary compatibility two releases in a row – and “maybe” change in compilers (VS 2012? If Microsoft timing is right). DWG file format will stay on the regular 3 year cycle. Binary Compatible ObjectARX Visual Studio 2010 2012?

6 Apps store Cloud Model Documentation
The three big buckets of new capabilities for Jaws are – Apps store (taking the store to the next level) Cloud (delivering and easy integrated experience) Model Documentation (major enhancements in model to drawing capabilities we started in 2012)

7 Apps store iPhone App Store like experience Quick, easy, delightful
Goal: Immediate solutions – easy and delightful iPhone App Store like experience Quick, easy, delightful Free, Trial and Fee based Products Sell your Products Look familiar? We showed this last year. And delivered on it.

8 Apps store Demo Reach Experience Over 1 million users
Goal: Energize and Delight the Developer Community Reach Over 1 million users AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Civil 3D, Map 3D, AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD mechanical, AutoCAd Electrical, Vault, PLM… Cost of Marketing = Near Zero Experience In Product and Web Easy download, install, update and migrate Free, Trial and Fee based Products Over 170 products from over 40 partners running over 1000 downloads per month. Great customer feedback – they love it! But a too well kept secret. Expanding to Inventor, Revit, AutoCAD based Verticals, Vault and more. Two releases supported for AutoCAD increasing in product availability from 150k or so today to over 400k by late next year. Including verticals, Revit and Inventor – closer reaching a million users. Access through web is also expected to increase traffic. Demo on iPad view of three new Apps stores (work in process) All told we’ve been running 1000 or so app downloads per month which we expect to increase by one to two orders of magnitude. More we are doing to drive volume…

9 Apps store In product bubble messaging of new apps

10 Apps store Ribbon delivering live updates of Featured Apps

11 Marquee Apps Apps store
Working closely with partners to develop and promote Marquee apps – the potential Angry Birds for each Autodesk product. Lets talk!

12 Apps store Free? Marketing Marketing Trial? Revenue Fee? Marketing
Goal: Energize and Delight the Developer Community Marketing Absolutely Working Free? Marketing Pursuing (not yet working) Trial? A handful of partners are seeing hundreds of downloads helping them reach hundreds of new customers – driving real business growth. A few partners have seen 20%+ growth in their revenue – using the store as a lead finder. Introducing themselves to new customers through a quick delightful experience. But it takes work. The right app The right description/information The right price The right post download follow-up Patience for fee based apps – this is unproven Business 2 Business app store we and you are learning from. Revenue Marketing Pursuing (not yet working) Fee?

13 Apps store Learn Now Later Free, Trial, Low Cost, High Cost Packaging
Goal: Energize and Delight the Developer Community Learn Now Free, Trial, Low Cost, High Cost Packaging Marketing New Customers Later Sales More languages (FIGS) Purchase Order Quantity Autodesk commission? Now is the time to get onboard with a variety of apps – so you can learn. Leverage success as a source of new customers with a free app. Include paid apps so you have the chance to be on the front line as we learn – and when we turn the corner on sales. Improvements that enable high cost product selling like taking Purchase Orders are in the works – as well as addition of FIGS support to drive additional traffic and enable publishers in non-English markets.

14 Cloud AutoCAD and Autodesk Cloud
Store and share your data Print, Edit and View your drawings from anywhere with AutoCAD WS Cloud rendering Using the same to both store data where its easily accessible from many devices and by other people, simple date and time based rev control eliminating the loss of information and use of down rev designs – as well as saving user profiles so users can more easily use other machines. This is the first step to making it easy for a user to easily recreate their work environment quickly and easily wherever they happen to be working.

15 Model Documentation MFG Documentation Release 2
Demo Additional translators: SketchUp Section and Details Views (inc Partial, Offset, aligned) Associativity for AutoCAD Dimensions, and Annotations Dedicated Workspace Property Palette Autodesk Vault Support Last DevDays we didn’t demo the new Model Documentation capabilities as it was a late addition – and had limitations when one wanted to use for production drafting. This release Model Docuentation is in most oart complete – so lets take a look. Demo Die Block Create and place views in Layout Add a few dimensions Change geometry in model view – and see changes in layouts – and how dimensions that are orphaned are handled Create complex offset section – including removing pins from section participation as well as browsing section “templates” flexibility – including changing cross section hatch color. Create detail Edit model geometry and watch all the updates Demo with Inventor Nozzle model layout in AutoCAD – including changing size of hole in disc in Inventor – and then updating in AutoCAD. Maybe Revit next?

16 Model Documentation All Importers
Format Support Details New in 2013 STL Read/Write both Binary & ASCII Support color in both imp/exp Imports can now create meshes in Inventor JT Version 9.5 Catia V5 version 21 PTC Creo 1.0 Rhino Version 4.0 Version 5.0 SWX Older version Target 2012 Support NX Target V8 SKP New Support Added Updating importers so this same ease of documentation with data from all kinds of sources – CATIA, SWX, Rhino, JT, Siemens and new this release SketchUp.

17 Other Point Cloud Improvements Better Fusion Interop
More points on screen Intensity Shading 3D Cloud Clipping Property & Xref Integration Add Leica & Industry formats Better Fusion Interop Edit solids in AutoCAD blocks w/o exploding them Reuse existing session of Inventor Fusion Improvements in Point Cloud handling – and better Fusion integration.

18 Demo And… A Whole Lot More AUGI & User Enhancements
Extract profiles (U V curves) from an existing surface Multi-select support for Hatchedit QuickView Drawing enhancement Annotation to front additions Application Menu enhancement Fonts list control enhancement Content Explorer Enhancements In-Canvas Property Preview Thumbnail Enhancements 3D Push-Pull Enhancements Ease in Acquisition & Deployment Streamlined delivery: ACA, AME, ACM common ACAD core Access and switch language packs from core product Modern, article-based Help on the Web Suites Web Installer (Q2) Delivering on several top AUGI wish list items – simple things like multi select for Hatchedit is a bid deal for a production drafter. Of course 3D modeling continues to advance. Is AutoCAD the most popular “history free direct modeler” on the planet? Demo 3D push pull by adding a radius to a few corners of the Die Block

19 Apps store Cloud Model Documentation
Remember the three big buckets of new capabilities for Jaws are – Apps store (taking the store to the next level) Get involved! Cloud (delivering and easy integrated experience) Get started learning! Model Documentation (major enhancements in model to drawing capabilities we started in 2012) Production drafters will want it.
