Music was used by David as a means of glorifying God and spreading His Word among His people. The office of musicians was an important office that reported directly to the King of Israel Musical talent was passed from one generation to another. Music involves a lot of training to become accomplished. Those involved in making music before the Lord were appointed to their positions by spiritual selection (sacred lots)

Element of Godly worship: Prophets playing instruments as they worship – 1 Sam 10:5-6 An auditory (hearing) experience with invocative powers: Saul and the evil spirit – 1 Sam 16:14-23 Element of idolatry (when misused) – instruments played to herald bowing to Nebuchadnezzar’s statue – Dan 3:4-7 Unifying experience that can influence the mood or atmosphere of an individual or gathering

1 Chron 25:1b:“…to proclaim God’s messages to the accompaniment of lyres, harps and cymbals.” Conclusion: Make Music to Glorify God as it is in Heaven Praise Him for all He has done for you and will yet do Worship Him in the beauty of His holiness Reflect on His Word and meditate on His precepts and commandments Encourage the weak and weary; comfort the mourning Avoid music that invokes the wrong kind of spirit or sets the wrong mood.
