This is a chart that shows basically that high performing organizations actively utilize project management principles, and high performers are defined as organizations that waste the least amount of money, have the highest project success rates, and the highest stakeholder and employee satisfaction rates.

High performing organizations are those that waste less money and have a higher approval rating with customers, meaning that the final product meets the needs of the customer.
These figures show that the efficient use of resources is directly related to the application of project management techniques to achieve these goals
Which brings me to the point that PM is not a heavy handed process and requires careful tailoring based on the goals of the project.
