2. Metamorphic Characteristics
Formed under the surface
They have ribbon like layers
May have shiny crystals showing, which is crystals that were formed SLOWLY overtime

3. Igneous Characteristics
When lava cools QUICKLY, there are no crystals showing.
The rock appears to look shiny and glasslike(OBSIDIAN)
Tiny gas bubbles can sometimes get trapped in the rock (during the cooling process)
This will leave small holes and spaces in the rock.

4. Sedimentary Characteristics
Formed from particles of sand, pebbles, rock, shells and other material.
Together, all of these particles are called SEDIMENT
This type of rock is generally soft and can easily break apart or crumble easily
Sediment accumulates in LAYERS
