Check student’s learning goals Attract/hold attention Check understanding of students

4 STEPS IN QUESTIONING Ask an open question
All participants think about the answer One student answers. Possibilities: react to the answer, or forward the answer to the rest of the group, or question further

5 TIPS IN QUESTIONING Don’t ask more than one question at a time
Ask clear questions Do not (implicity) give the answer yourself Do not ask disaffirmative or trick questions

6 STEPS IN ANSWERING Student asks a question
If necessary, ask for an explanation Summarise the question Give the answer or forward question to the group Check whether the answer satisfies the student
