Western Coastal Plains Eastern Coastal Plains
1. The area in western coastal plain is straighter than the Eastern Coastal Plains. 1. The area in eastern coastal plain is less Straight. 2.The area is narrow down in the south. The area is broader . 3. Receives rainfall at the end of summers. Receives rainfall during winters. 4. It is less fertile than the eastern coastal plains. It is more fertile than the eastern coastal plains.

Land Fertility Eastern Coastal Plains are more fertile than the Western Coastal Plains because more number of rivers flows towards the Eastern Coastal Plains and Deltas. These deltas are very fertile and suitable for agriculture. Most people living along the coast are farmers and fisherman. Tall Coconut trees and Banana trees are found in plenty in the coastal plains.

Summarization Now let’s have a quick review on that what we learnt today. The coastal plains of India are divided into two groups: Western Coastal Plains and Eastern Coastal Plains. Odisha, AndraPradesh and Tamil Nadu comes in Eastern Coastal area. Gujrat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala come in Western Coastal plain. The Western Coastal Plains are more straighter and narrow down in South. The Western Coastal Plains receives rainfall in summers and it is less fertile. Tapi is the main river. The eastern Coastal Plains receive rainfall in winter and are more fertile. Krishna, Godavari and Narmada are the rivers of this area.
