2. Introduction About your child’s teacher:
I am from Ste. Genevieve, MO (small town south of STL)
Went to the University of Missouri Columbia
Received my Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education. (2014)
Received my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. (2015)
Taught 2nd grade for two years
1st year in 4th grade (I’m super excited) 

3. Behavior Systems Schoolwide: BEST charts Classroom: Golden Bucks
Students can earn stickers throughout the day for positive behavior from myself and other teachers. Once they fill a chart they get to go to the office to dig in the prize box!
Classroom:
Golden Bucks
Students will receive golden bucks for turning in homework each week, and filling up sticker charts. Once they receive a certain amount there will be prizes for them to collect (ex. Sitting at the teachers desk, sitting by a friend, eating lunch in the classroom, etc.)
WOW Points
The class can earn WOW points throughout the day when I am really impressed with their behavior as a whole. They can also earn them through compliments from other teachers. As a class, we decide on how many we need to throw a party. (popcorn, show and tell, extra recess, etc.)

4. Consequences Warnings:
Students will always be given warnings (unless their action requires immediate action).
After so many warnings (usually 2 or 3) students will be asked to walk laps at their recess time per how many times they are reminded there after.
If the student received too many laps and reminders, I will call to let you know what has been going on to try and solve the problem together.
Zero Tolerance:
There will be zero tolerance for bullying, hands on other students, rough actions and/or words. This will result in parent phone calls and/or visits with the principal.

5. Planner
Daily assignments will be written on the board to be written in their planner each day.
I am going to ask parents to sign these on Thursday nights so I can check these along with homework on Friday’s.

6. Homework
Homework will be assigned on Friday’s and will be due the following Friday at the start of the day.
The homework will look like a check list—students will have the chance to work on various activities throughout the week. Some will be online and submitted, some will be handwritten and turned in, and some will be just for practice on their honor.
Homework is meant to be a review for what they are learning in the classroom, and to show you what they are doing. It is not meant to take away from extra curricular activities or spending time with your family.
However, I do expect homework to be turned in each Friday to build upon the students’ responsibility skills.

7. Book Reports
To receive the Reading Circle Certificate at the end of the year, 4th grade students must read 11 fiction books and 4 non-fiction.
Book report ideas and deadlines will be given out soon.
We will do at least 5 in the classroom as projects that will be completed individually or in book clubs.
This is not meant to take a ton of time, but to show the students a fun way to report on what they read!

8. Vocabulary/Spelling
The students are given 5 vocabulary words and no excuse spelling words each Monday.
We will take a test each Friday (or a day that make sense if it falls near a holiday/break week).
We will work on the words throughout the week through games and other activities. We will focus on being able to identify the meaning of the words for the first 5 and the spelling of the other.

9. Absent Work
If a student is absent, we will discuss in class what I would like them to make up. If it is something I will take for a grade, I will allow them time in the classroom to work on it. If it is work for practice, I will let them do this at home if I think it is necessary.
Students will get their work when they come back to school. If they are gone for an extended period of time we can make arrangements to get it home.

10. Snacks and Drinks Snacks:
We will not have snacks in fourth grade. Please make sure your child is eating a healthy breakfast since we do have a while to wait until lunch. If you have questions or concerns you can talk with me privately.
Drinks:
I will allow water bottles in the classroom. I do ask that the students fill it up in the morning and that they keep it on the floor under their desk. I would prefer water bottles that close versus ones with straws, just to prevent major spills.

Parent Check List
Purchase planner and pay for School of Economics ($5.00 for the planner and $12.00 for the School of Economic field trip—you can put them on the same check if you would like)
Sign up for CME PTA (they help with so much here at school and donate a lot towards our Jefferson City trip)
Fill out background checks so you can volunteer on field trips and at school (must be turned in prior to a field trip otherwise our officer will not have time to do it that day)
Sign up to be a volunteer at School of Economics (if there are too many I will draw from a hat) 
