2 Overview of Recordbooks
There are three levels of recordbooks Junior, Intermediate, Senior The forms are age appropriate and build on each other. All information from H year will be in this year’s forms only Each of the past year’s information will be on their own year’s forms

3 Overview of Recordbooks
Forms may be completed by downloading from the Texas 4‐H website and the county website at achievement-awards/ Record Books will still be printed and turned in to be judged Judged by what’s in them, not how they look Photo captions not required but allowed Can use either Word forms or handwritten Dividers for Years ARE ALLOWED

Agricultural Sciences (Includes LSJ) Beef Citizenship and Civic Education Clothing and Textiles Communicative and Expressive Arts Companion Animal Consumer Education Entomology Family Life Food and Nutrition Gardening and Horticulture Goat Health Horse Leadership Natural Resources Personal Development Photography Plant and Soil Science Public Speaking Poultry Rabbits Recreation Science, Engineering and Technology Sheep Shooting Sports Swine Vet Science Wildlife and Fisheries

6 INTERMEDIATE & SENIOR 4-H STORY AND PHOTO PORTFOLIO

7 Story & Photos Intermediates & Seniors:
Story & Photo Portfolio separate document from report forms Up to 10 pages of text and photos (captions no longer required on photos)

8 SENIOR Recordbook (4-H Age: 9th – 12th grade)
Same as last year’s reports Focus on up to 4 projects for the current year Seniors are encouraged to set project goals at start of 4-H and adopt a record keeping system that meets their needs Required documents: Personal Information Page Senior Report Form (Sections I – VII) 4-H Story & Photo Portfolio Judging: Turn in required documents with current year information only using NEW forms followed by report forms (old forms) from last years recordbook Judging will be based on up to 4 projects for up to 4 years

9 Senior Report Form Senior Report Form includes (current year info only): Sec I: 4-H Project Experiences – What is your project? How did it change or grow? What have you done? What have you learned? 3 pages Sec II: 4-H Leadership Experiences – chart format; 2 page Max Sec III: 4-H Community Service – chart format; 2 Page Max Sec IV: Other 4-H Projects - 1 Page max Section V: 4-H Recognition & Awards - 1 Page max Section VI: Non 4-H Activities – 1 page max Section VII: College/Career Exploration – chart format; 1 page max

14 Transitioning Between Age Divisions & Judging
Each year a member will add their new report forms and other required documents on top of old report forms. For Judging: All Ages – Updated Personal Information page will be completed every year Seniors – 4 most current years report forms will be judged Seniors – New Story & Photo Portfolio will be completed every year

15 Judging of Recordbooks
Rubric/chart format to allow judges to ‘check a box’ that best describes their assessment of each section of the book Still allows space for written comments (next to each section and on back of scoresheet) Member should be able to tell what areas need improvement based on check marks and comments

16 Frequently Asked Questions
Question: What would not count as a project experience? School, Internet, books, etc What is considered a NATIONAL or INTERNATIONAL Experience? Can I use dividers for the years’ forms? Yes, you may use dividers to divide the years’ forms

Question: What are the Basic Rules for making my Recordbook? Minimum 10pt font, 12 is better At least 3 pages photos with or without captions…should mostly be on main project Margins…1 on right, top, bottom-1.5 on left No cardstock or construction paper Question: Which information from which years do I put in my Recordbook? All of the information from will go on the forms…no info from prior years!
