The Panama Canal Before the canal, Panama wasn’t even its own country…
It was a part of Columbia France paid Columbia millions to build a canal in Panama France failed to finish it The U.S. wanted to finish it Columbia demanded millions from the U.S for the rights to the Canal

Panama Canal T.R. would have none of that
He encouraged a Panamanian rebellion from Columbia. The U.S. backed this rebellion and in effect ruled Panama for 30 years. The U.S. controlled the canal until 1999.
