5 WHERE DONEGAL IS IN IRELAND

6 FLAG The Donegal flag is a bright green and yellow or sometimes green and gold. The words on the top means Donegal in Irish.

7 THE GAA CREST THE GAA CREST
Every shield features a striking deep red cross, usually set against a golden yellow background. It has a hand holding the cross. The Donegal GAA Crest is based on an ancient Celtic Coat of Arms. Here it is.

8 ISLANDS There are loads of Islands off the coast of Donegal. Two of these Islands are called Tory and Arranmore. Tory island is unique because everyone speaks Irish there. Arranmore island ,off Burtonport , is the second biggest island of Ireland. Here is Arranmore.

9 TOURIST ATTRACTIONS Donegal has many tourist attractions. Here is some I thought looked quite interesting. The Doagh Famine Village which is a museum where it shows you all about the famine. I also found out about Donegal castle which is quite famous and on Wednesday, 25th of May 2015, it was visited by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwell.

10 INTERVIEW TIME When I asked Mrs.Parkinson what her favourite part about growing up in Donegal was, she said ‘’I lived on the border so I got great TV channels from the UK like BBC. I also liked living near the countryside so we could play all we pleased’’. Then I asked her where her favourite place was to go to and she said ‘’ I loved going to Gweedore to visit my granny.

11 William Allingham Probably his most famous work is 'The Fairies' "Up the airy mountain, Down the rushy glen, We daren't go a-hunting, For fear of little men ..." which lines are spoken by The Tinker in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. He died in London and his ashes were brought home to his wife Helen Allingham where they were buried in the graveyard at St. Anne's Church of Ireland in the town.

12 THE FAIRIES VERSE I Up the airy mountain, Down the rushy glen,
We daren't go a-hunting For fear of little men; Wee folk, good folk, Trooping all together; Green jacket, red cap, And white owl's feather!

13 THE DONEGAL NATURAL SOAP COMPANY
The Donegal Natural Soap Company was founded in the South West Donegal Bluestack mountain range, an area known for its beauty and unspoilt countryside. It is easy to find creative inspiration here.
