TUSCANY
7
Cabernet franc Cabernet Franc has proved to be the variety best suited to the estate’s diverse soil and topography, and is the true signature of the estate, as it thrives in both warm and cool vintages. Only a handful of growers in the region have it under vine.
8
merlot The Merlot blocks on our estate produce incredibly complex and mineral-based expressions of this variety. The blocks are located within the cooler areas of the estate, naturally irrigated by the stream that undulates through it, and feature sandy brown soils and lower yields than typical.
9
Cabernet sauvignon Bordeaux varieties prosper on the estate, and Cabernet Sauvignon has been matched to specific areas where the unique soil profile, facing, slope, water uptake and heat potential produce wines that showcase the unique Tuscan character of the property.
10
Petit verdot A small amount of Petit Verdot, which adds a layer of flavor intensity and tannin structure to the wines, is found on the estate. The soil here contains a high amount of galestro rock that provides good drainage and minerality.
11
Future Plantings Extensive future plantings will include a focus on Cabernet Franc, further emphasizing the commitment to a Bordelais focus within the Chianti Classico region.
