The family place empowers victims of family violence by providing safe housing, counseling and skills that create independence while building community engagement and advocating for social change to stop family violence.

17 Statistics 74% of all murder-suicides involved an intimate partner. Of those 96% were women killed by their intimate partner (APA) U.S. women lose nearly 8.0 million days of paid work each year because of violence perpetrated against them by an intimate partner (CDC, NVAWS) Health care costs associated with each incident of domestic violence are $948 in cases where women were the victims (CDC) In the study “The Cost of Crime to Society” researchers estimate the tangible per-offense costs of a murder is $1,278,424 In the state of the Texas there were 158 intimate partner homicides last year, potentially costing $201,990,992

18 Statistics In families where battering occurs, the rate of child abuse or neglect is 15 times higher than the national average (TDFPS) One in five female high school students reports being physically and/or sexually abused by a dating partner (APA) Men who were victims of child maltreatment are three to four times more likely to perpetrate intimate partner violence (World Health Organization) Domestic Violence is the third leading cause of homelessness among families (National Coalition for the Homelessness)

20 Hotline The Family Place Hotline, , provides 24-hour crisis counseling, information and referral for victims of domestic violence. Year Hotline and Crisis Calls ,359 Information and Referral Calls ,003

21 Emergency Shelter 24 hours a day clients receive shelter, counseling, food, clothing, legal assistance, daycare and on-site school. Shelter for men is provided at another confidential location. Year Men Women Children & Adolescents 587

22 Supportive Living Program (SLP)
Provides subsidized housing, employment, legal assistance, education and child care, to give women the time and resources to build new, non-violent lives. Year Women Children

23 Child Development Center (CDC)
The CDC uses a curriculum that understands and recognizes the unique needs of traumatized children. School age children are taken by bus to nearby schools, then are able to participate in our Safe Campus After-School Program when they return. Year Children

24 Learning Center The Family Place Learning Center provides a safe learning environment for K-2 students living at the Safe Campus. This allows these young children who have left their homes to not transition yet again to a public school environment. Year Total 52

25 Non-Residential Counseling for Adults & Children
The Family Place provides culturally sensitive counseling services to children and adults of all ages. Services are provided in English and in Spanish. The Incest Recovery Program offers adult and adolescent counseling, training for professionals, and education about the problem of incest at our central Dallas office and Salvation Army. Year Clients

27 Be Project The Be Project teaches elementary to college aged students how to build healthy relationships and how to prevent bullying, dating violence and sexual violence. Year Students ,732

28 Battering Intervention & Prevention Program (BIPP)
BIPP works closely with the criminal justice system to provide court ordered services to the community. Services are provided in multiple locations throughout Dallas County. Year Batterers (Men & Women) Adolescents

29 Faith & Liberty’s Place (FLP)
FLP Family Center provides a safe, neutral, child-centered environment where parent exchanges take place and trained professionals facilitate supervised child visitation with non-custodial parents. Year Total
