1 Academic Catalog: Undergraduate Degree Programs

2 Undergraduate Program:
Degrees Offered Associate of Applied Science Associate of Arts Bachelor of Arts Bachelor of Business Administration Bachelor of Christian Ministry Bachelor of Music Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Bachelor of Science in Nursing Bachelor of Applied Science Two associate degrees and eight undergraduate degrees make up the undergraduate program at the University.

3 Undergraduate Program:
Academic Schools The School of Behavioral and Social Sciences offers programs in justice administration, composite social studies, history, human services, psychology, political science, social science, and sociology. The School of Business offers programs in accounting, business administration, business education economics/finance, health care administration, international management, human resource management, management information systems, and management/marketing. The Don Williams School of Education offers programs in elementary education, middle school education, secondary education, career and technology education, exercise and sport science, and applied science. The School of Fine Arts offers programs in art, communication, media communication specialist, and theatre. The School of Languages and Literature offers programs in English, German, and Spanish. The School of Mathematics and Sciences offers programs in biology, chemistry, geology, mathematics, life science, molecular biology, physical science education, and pre-professional programs. The School of Music offers programs in church music, music education, and vocal and instrumental performance music. The School of Nursing offers programs in nursing. The School of Religion and Philosophy offers programs in Christian leadership, Christian ministry, Greek, Hebrew, philosophy, religion, and religious education. Academic Program Profile A listing of all degrees, majors, minors, specialization and teacher certification is listed, along with where they are located in the catalog. There are nine different academic schools at the University, each offering majors, minors and specializations.

Schools School of Behavioral and Social Sciences Purpose: Exists to educate students in the behavioral and social sciences disciplines of liberal arts in an academically-challenging, distinctively Christian environment. Majors: History, Human Services, Justice Administration, Political Science, Psychology, Social Sciences, and Sociology Minors: History, Justice Administration, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology Pre-Professional Programs Pre-Christian Counseling Pre-Law Here are the programs available through the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences.

Schools School of Business Purpose: Is committed to producing graduates who have an understanding of and appreciation for the historic importance of Christian work ethic in the development of the U.S. economy and how it should be applied in today’s business environment. Schools Don Williams School of Education Purpose: Is composed of two departments that offer undergraduate education: teacher education and exercise and sport science. The aim of the school is to prepare highly qualified professional educations and leaders in teaching and exercise and sport science. Degrees: Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Major: (Teaching Field), Elementary Education, Minor: Religious Education/Children’s Ministry Bachelor of Arts – Middle School Degree Major: Language Arts and Social Studies Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – Middle School Major: Generalist, Science, and Mathematics Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies – All Level Degree Major: Special Education Bachelor of Arts Major: Art, Communication, English/Language Arts, History, Social Studies, Spanish, and Theatre Here is a list of the degree programs available through the Don Williams School of Education.

Schools School of Fine Arts Purpose: Provide curricula, creative experiences and opportunities for self- expression, and performances that lead students to a deep understanding of the arts. Degrees: Bachelor of Arts – Art Education Concentration Major: Art, Communication, Media Communication Specialist, and Theatre Minor: Art, Communication, Media Communication Specialist, and Theatre School of Languages and Literature Purpose: Provide training in the techniques and skills necessary to produce acceptable, effective written expression. Schools School of Mathematics and Sciences Purpose: Emphasizes a rigorous, ethical approach to the study of mathematics and science. We believe that success in these disciplines requires a broad base of content knowledge and the development of the critical thinking skills necessary for the ongoing acquisition, processing and communication of current subject matter. Degrees: Bachelor of Science Major: Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Chemistry & Physical Education (Grades 8-12), Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics, Mathematics (Grades 8-12), Minor: Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics, and Molecular Biology Pre-Professional Programs: Pre-Engineering, Pre-Medical, Dental, Pre-Medical Technology, Pre-Nursing, Pre- Optometry, Pre-Pharmacy, Pre-Physical/Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physician Assistant, Pre-Technical, and Pre-Veterinary Medicine Here is a list of the degree programs available through the School of Mathematics and Sciences.

Schools School of Music Purpose: Offers emphasis in general music, theory and composition, or church music and worship. Degrees: Bachelor of Music Major: Music, Church Music, Music Education, and Performance; Instrumental, Keyboard, and Vocal Bachelor of Arts Major: General Music, Theory/Composition, Church Music & Worship Minor: Music (BA or BS) Here is a list of the degree programs offered through the School of Music.

Schools School of Nursing Purpose: Believes that the profession of nursing should be able to respond to the health care needs of individuals in an ever changing environment. A knowledge base built from both the arts and the science helps build a foundation for core competency in professional nursing. Degrees: Bachelor of Science in Nursing Major: Nursing, RN to BSN Completion Program, and LVN to BSN Completion Program At Wayland we do offer a Nursing degree through the school of Nursing. However, this degree is only available to our San Antonio students.

Schools School of Religion and Philosophy Purpose: Provide education in religion and philosophy for all students; to provide theological education and training for students interested in ministry; and to provide services to persons, churches, and denominational entities. Degrees: Bachelor of Arts Major: Religion Specializations: General Christian Studies, Pastoral Ministry, Youth Ministry, Chaplaincy Ministry, Intercultural Missions, and Bi-vocational Ministry Major: Composite Religion, Recreation & Camp Management Major: Religious Education Specializations: General Religious Education, Youth Ministry, Education Ministry Degrees: Bachelor of Christian Ministry Minors: Christian Leadership, Philosophy, Religion, and Religious Education Pre-Professional Tracks Pre-Christian Counseling Track in Religion Pre-Christian Counseling Track in Religious Education Pre-Seminary Track for the Master of Divinity Degree Here is a list of the degree programs available through the School of Religion and Philosophy.

 Other Programs Academic Achievement (ACAC) Designed to assist students who need help with study skills, have limited areas such as reading, writing, spelling, mathematics, have limited English proficiency, and/or lack academic or personal confidence. Courses are available online for students in need Contact Sherry King for more information Honors Designed to challenge the academically advanced student to develop initiative and abilities beyond what is expected in a normal course of study. Available only on the Plainview Campus ACAC classes are designed to aid students who need additional help with fundamentals skills such as English, Spelling, and Mathematics. This type of class is available to students at both the Plainview and External Campuses. Anyone needing assistance in these areas will need to contact Sherrie King at the Plainview campus.

 BAS/BCM Degrees Degrees: Bachelor of Applied Science Major: Business Administration Specialization: General Business, Health Care Administration, Human Resource Management Major: Career and Technology Specialization: Trades and Industry Programs Major: Early Childhood Development, Human Services, Justice Administration, Management, Religion, and Applied Science Degrees: Associate of Applied Science Majors: Business Administration, Religion, Human Services, Justice Administration, and Applied Science Please refer to the BAS/BCM guidelines for a detailed look at the BAS/BCM degrees. Here is a list of the degree programs available through the BAS/BCM office. These degrees cater mostly to our non-traditional students and are a great opportunity for military service men and women.
