4 School Calendars Information about any dates in which students will not be in school from January 23 to March 17, 2017 is needed Submitting proposed calendars for the entire school year is acceptable If multiple calendars are being considered, send all sets as proposed. It is better to block out too many dates then not enough. If proposed calendars are posted on county website, send link. Please submit the proposed calendars by April 22, if possible Finalized calendars will be pulled from WVDE website when posted.

WVGSA testing has opened for 2 counties. Testing will open for 0 counties on April 12, 2016, bringing the total counties with tests opened to 2.

8 Updated Testing Windows
TDS is currently using original testing windows. We are working with AIR to have this situation correctly by tomorrow.

9 Option Pathway Students
Students enrolled in Option Pathway 1 are required to take the WVGSA and are included in the participation rate calculations and accountability data.  Because Option Pathway 1 students do not accumulate credits until program completion, each student is assigned to the grade level currently achieved by the student’s grade 9 cohort. Thus, these students should be tested at the same grade level that the student’s grade 9 cohort level has currently achieved. The WVGSA should be administered in the grade level content areas. For example, let’s take a student who entered grade 9 in If this student is now participating in the Option Pathway program, the student would be considered a grade 11 student since the cohort from grade 9 is currently in grade 11. This student would need to take the WVGSA grade 11 ELA and math tests. Remember, this is for Option 1 Pathway Students.

25 TAs entering student responses
Data Entry Interface (DEI) Data Entry Interface (DEI): is a component of the Test Delivery System. allows authorized TAs to enter student responses from Large Print and Braille test books into the system. is accessed using the same login TAs use for TIDE, TDS, or ORS. is NOT accessed via the Secure Browser. All student responses from Large Print or Braille books MUST be entered into DEI. There are no answer sheets for students to use. Students will respond in their test books. TAs entering student responses into the DEI must be trained as SCRIBES.

26 Data Entry Interface (DEI)
Access the DEI via the card on the WVGSA portal.

33 Data Entry Interface (DEI)
The scribe will see exactly what the student would see if he/she was taking the test online (all accommodations). Some pages may have only one item, and others may have multiple items. Scribes must select the appropriate response option for each item. The system automatically captures and saves the response data as it is entered.

37 Data Entry Interface (DEI)
Things to Remember - Tools available are the same for scribes in DEI as for students in the secure browser. Navigation for scribes in DEI is similar to that as students. Differences: No Pause Rules No segment breaks For Math and ELA, the CAT and PT are combined in one paper entry. All responses must be reviewed prior to submitting the test. Once the test is submitted it can’t be accessed.

39 Data Entry Interface (DEI)
Scenario – 1 Mary has accommodations for a LP book and for a scribe. Mary will take the WVGSA using the book, writing her answers directly in the LP book. The scribe will log into DEI as him/herself. The scribe will identify Mary as the student for which he/she wants to enter answers. The scribe will identify the test Mary has taken. The scribe enters Mary’s answers from the LP book into DEI. The scribe reviews the entries and submits Mary’s test in DEI.

40 Data Entry Interface (DEI)
Scenario – 2 Johnny broke his arm at baseball practice and is unable to use a mouse/keyboard. An SAT meeting is held and Johnny is given the scribe accommodation to assist with his WVGSA. Johnny will take the WVGSA online with the help of the scribe. The TA will start a test session and get a Session ID. The scribe will act as an extension of Johnny’s hands. The scribe will go to the Secure Browser and enter Johnny’s first name, WVEIS, and the Session ID. The scribe will select the test to be taken and wait for TA approval. The TA approves Johnny into the session. Johnny reads each questions and tells the scribe how he would like to answer the question. The scribe enters Johnny’s answers directly into the Secure Browser/student interface exactly as Johnny indicates. Through the scribe, Johnny can “mark for review,” use the context menu tools, use a calculator, etc. When finished, the scribe submits Johnny’s test.
