*PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison)
Dear Lord, bless all those everywhere who contribute to shape the hearts, minds, and bodies of young people.
19
Too often we do not remember what they have taught and apply it daily
Too often we do not remember what they have taught and apply it daily. When facing deceit and dishonesty, we have not always been Trustworthy.
20
We have not always been Helpful where disregard of others and mere materialism prevail. In an atmosphere of ill manner, we have often failed to be Courteous.
21
Holy God, we have failed at times to be Kind and Obedient when lawbreaking and rule-scoffing are common. We ask your strength, Holy God, so while others grumble
22
and grouch, we will be Cheerful; in an environment blighted by waste and extravagance, let us be Thrifty. When confronted with danger and temptation, let us be Brave.
23
As we see filth and pollution everywhere, let us be Clean
As we see filth and pollution everywhere, let us be Clean. In short Gracious God, in a world that has for generation after generation lamented the lack of good examples,
24
let us stand out, grow up, and be real adults
let us stand out, grow up, and be real adults. (silence is observed for reflection and prayer)
25

CHOIR ANTHEM “This Bread, This Cup”
28
PROCLAIMING THE WORD SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 6:1-9
29
Now this is the commandment – the statutes and the ordinances – that the Lord your God charged me to teach you to observe in the land that you are about to cross into and occupy, so that you and your children and your
30
children’s children may fear the Lord your God all the days of your life, and keep all his decrees and his commandments that I am commanding you, so that your days may be long.
31
Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe them diligently, so that it may go well with you, and so that you may multiply greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, has promised you.
32
Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone
Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these word that I am commanding you today in your heart.
33
Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. Bind them as a sign on your hand, fix them as an emblem on your forehead,
34
and write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
35
SCRIPTURE READING: Deuteronomy 10:12-21
36
So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you
So now, O Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you? Only to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments
37
of the Lord your God and his decrees that I am commanding you today, for your own well-being. Although heaven and the heaven of heavens belong to the Lord your God, the earth with all that is in it, yet the Lord set his heart in love
38
on your ancestors alone and chose you, their descendants after them, out of all the peoples, as it is today. Circumcise, then, the foreskin of your heart, and do not be stubborn any longer.
39
For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and who loves the strangers,
40
providing them with food and clothing
providing them with food and clothing. You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt. You shall fear the Lord your God; him alone you shall worship; to him you shall hold fast,
41
and by his name you shall swear
and by his name you shall swear. He is your praise; he is your God, who has done for you these great and awesome things that your own eyes have seen.
42
L: This is the Word of the Lord. P: Thanks be to God!

L: May God the Creator, God the Redeemer, God the Healer be with you. P: And also with you. L: Lift up your hearts! P: We lift them up to the Lord! L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
60
P: It is right to give God thanks and praise.
L: It is indeed right to give you our thanks and praise, Merciful God, for into this troubled world you break forth with the Light of Love and Redemption. Though we choose to embrace the disobedience of sin,
61
still you come to us with good news of your mercy and love
still you come to us with good news of your mercy and love. When we forget the good way of being dutiful to you, you remember us and look upon us with favor by sending prophets, unexpected angels and even your own Son, Jesus. Therefore, with angels and all the other hosts of heaven, we stand in awe before you to join their chorus of praise:
62
P: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of love and hope, heaven and earth are full of your glory and love. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. L: In sending Jesus the Christ, the obedient one, you revealed to all how your love works.
63
He obeyed you by preaching, teaching, restoring, and redeeming
He obeyed you by preaching, teaching, restoring, and redeeming. He brought healing everywhere he went. He put total trust in you – trust even unto death. For that we are deeply thankful. So, here in this holy time of celebration, here at the sacred feast prepared for us, we would speak of that mystery we call faith:
64
P: We remember Christ’s death; We remember Christ’s resurrection; We remember Christ will come again in glory. L: God of Love, let your Holy Spirit move in power and love over us and over these earthly gifts of bread and wine. By our sharing of them may we experience the mystery of the
65
true communion of the body and blood of Christ, and may we be strengthened to follow him and carry his healing to all who are in need.
66
The Lord’s Prayer (unison)
Our Father, who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy Kingdom come; thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
67
Give us this day our daily bread
Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.
68
For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
69
WORDS OF INSTITUTION On the night he was arrested,
while they were eating, Jesus reached over, took some bread, gave thanks to God. Then he broke it, and gave it to his disciples and told them, “ Take this and eat it. This is my body, given for you.
70
Do this remembering me and my example.”
In the same way he took the cup from the table, and said, “This cup I have here is the new covenant, new hope, which will be sealed in my blood, which I will shed for you for the forgiveness of your sins. Whenever you drink it,
71
Remember me.” Jesus tells us boldly: “I am the bread of life. If any of you come to me, you won’t be hungry; if any of you believe in me, you Will never be thirsty.” Friends, every time you eat this bread and drink this cup,
72
You proclaim the saving death of the risen Lord until he comes – and you experience the grace of God.
73
