3 We know many forms of diversities
Social Diversity Food Diversity Bio Diversity What does it mean in our context? What does it mean for Content Diversity? What does it mean for Content Diversity?

4 Why is it important for all academics?
Content Diversity Why is it important for all academics? Content is a vital ingredient for any research project or study task Content Diversity ensures the combined availability of information in different Formats, Types, Subjects, and Breadth & Depths Content Diversity supports students and researchers to accomplish higher quality output by having different perspectives and data at hand Why has content diversity become so important for edecuation, training and research? Content is a vital ingredient for any research project or study task Content Diversity ensures the combined availability of information in different Formats, Types, Subjects, and Breadth & Depths. Content Diversity supports students and researchers to accomplish higher quality output by having different perspectives and data at hand.

5 Content Diversity - Example
---- Journal article Special topics Working papers Available 1-3 years earlier Dissertations Research depths & breadts eBooks Broad topic coverage Statistics & Reports Consolidates raw data A&I database Find important references Let‘s explain it by taking a real life example A researchers has a project and reads some journal articles. Soon he wants to read more articles to the same topic that are published in more recent years, but I can not find any. As he has access to working papers he discovers some interesting papers relevant for his topic. Those working papers even become journal article in 1-3 years but he can use the content already now now and does not have to wait for publication. Through the capability of cross-searches he finds also some eBooks that are addressing his field of interest from a much broader perspective than a journal article can. He is accessing the eBooks, reading the chapters that are most important for him and might even download some chapters for further studying. Thankfully he has also access to thousands of dissertations and finds some that conducted almost the sames research project as he plans to do. He learns which methods were applied, what worked well and what didn‘t. To large extend he can analyses the data used and gets a much better a clearer idea about his own project. He copies or downloads the bibliographies to check later if he can find the literature in his library. By reading through the dissertation he wants to check some data reports and statistics to get a deeper insight. Last but not least our researcher needs to make sure that he does not miss any important references. Therefore he conducts another search and marks that he on want to get results from Abstract in Index databases to see which results he can use to built up his literature and reference list. This was just an real life example how it happens many many times at any university in world. It does not matter where the student or researcher starts – It is about having the diverse content available and be able to access it. It doesn‘t matter where you start – It is about having the access

6 “Please indicate whether you use the following sources of information for research, including those used for staying current in your field and generating ideas as well as actively researching a topic for a paper.” The results of a survey across allmost 1000 researchers from all disciplines of buisness and social science confirmes the importance of Content Diversity in academic and research institutions The question asked is quite long in order to make sure the responses are 100% correct. You see the question at the top In short, the question was what other content types than journals are you using for your projects and to stay up to date in your fields of interest The results reveals that most content types (including books, conference proceedings, working papers and dissertations) represent important sources by a clear majority of users. Still more than half of the listed content types are used by over 60% of the researchers. That is quiete significant and proves that content diversity is important Survey: 969 researchers across all disciplines of business and social science
