Welcome to the first weekly newsletter of the school year. I have been very impressed with the way your children have returned to school this week. They have ALL looked so smart in their uniforms, and have already been working really hard and producing some excellent work.
I would like to take this opportunity to share with you the outstanding results your children and the school have achieved, as well as some slight changes to school routines.
Firstly, I was exceptionally pleased with the fantastic results we achieved in July. Our outcomes in Reception, Year 1 phonics test, Year 2 SATS and Year 6 SATS were all either in line with or above the national results. This means that our children at Limbrick are achieving higher than children across the country.
Secondly, can I thank you all for your understanding and consideration this week whilst we have slightly altered drop off and pick up arrangements. In order to develop independence, the year 4,5, and 6 children are now walking round to their classrooms on their own, at the start of the school day, and the change of entrance and exit door for year 3 is running very smoothly. At the end of the school day, year 4,5 and 6 children will be brought onto the playground by members of staff and can be collected from there. All other year groups continue to be collected from the classroom.
Finally, to ensure our school site is secure at all times, we have reviewed the times that the school gates will be opened. They will open at 8.40am for the children to arrive for the start of the school day at 8.45am and in the afternoon the gates will be opened at 3.10pm so that you can collect your children at 3.15pm.
As I am sure you can appreciate all the decisions I make are routed in what is best for your children, whilst ensuring safety is our priority.
May I thank you for continuing to support us at Limbrick in ensuring your children achieve their full potential and then more. I look forward to working with you all this academic year.

PE Kit:
If you haven't already done so, could you please send your child’s PE kit into school (white t shirt, black shorts/joggers, trainers / pumps), this can then stay in school for the half term. PE is a compulsory subject and the children must be dressed appropriately.
I have asked all classes to check that children have their PE kits in school by Monday 12th September.
Reminder - Paying money to school:
Can I ask that when you are paying money to school that you send the money in a clearly named envelope for your child to hand to the class teacher. It is preferable that you send the correct money, however if you require change this will be returned to you via your child as soon as possible.

We raised £72.35 on the final non-uniform day in July.
We collected 4911 Sainsbury's tokens to convert to play and cooking equipment.

Please refrain from putting cherries or grapes in the children's lunch boxes, as these can be a choking hazard.

REMINDER – Payments for Dinner money, Breakfast Club & After School Club:
All Key Stage 2 dinners must be paid for in advance or on the day, otherwise Solihull Catering Service require us to provide a packed meal. All payments for both Breakfast and After School Club must be paid in advance, or on the morning of the day the club is to be attended.
100% Attendance and Punctuality:
I would like to thank you for your support last year, and we reported 96.2% attendance, which was an increase compared to the previous year.
I will be looking to increase this further, ensuring children are in school every day in order to maximize their learning time and achieve their very best.
I will continue to focus on improving punctuality this academic year, as children arriving late not only affects their own learning but also disrupts the rest of their class. Children need to arrive at school between 8.45am and 8.55am, in order to undertake early morning work. Therefore we will continue to record poor punctuality. If children arrive after 8.55am, they will be recorded in the late book and their parents/carers will be asked to sign the late book and record the reason why. Mrs Devine will be closely monitoring children who are continuously late for school, offering support to those families who need it.
If children are regularly late for school, then I will also ask parents/carers to attend a meeting with myself and the Children and Family First Team to address this issue more formally.
I will keep you all informed via the weekly newsletter, the number of children who arrive late each week and whether this improves.
