2 The Village School Context 2014-2015
The Village School has 249 pupils with a range of learning disabilities and complex medical needs. The pupil intake ranges from Reception to Year 14 and consists of 32 classes. There are 23 different languages spoken and in addition there are 27 different ethnic groups. The largest of these groups is Somalian at 42 pupils which equates to almost one in six pupils at the school. The proportion of pupils with African heritage at the school is 52%. In addition 73% of pupils at The Village School are recorded as having English as an additional language. The school consists of 157 boys and 92 girls. 101 pupils are eligible for free schools out of a population of 249 pupils (41%). The breakdown of pupils with learning difficulties within the school population consists of 93 PMLD pupils, 128 SLD pupils, 11 MLD pupils. 76 of which have a physical disability frequently aligned with other complex needs.

3 Progression Guidance Analysis 2014-2015
Key Stage One to Two 100% of Year 6 pupils achieved the upper quartile in Language and Literacy, an improvement since 2013/2014. 100% achieved the upper quartile in Science. 100% achieved the upper quartile in Mathematics by the end of Key Stage 2. **For details of pupils levels please refer to the full document ‘Review of Standards ’

5 96% of Year 9 pupils achieved the median or upper quartile in the three core subjects in at the end of Key Stage 3 An average of 61% achieved the upper quartile across the three areas. 81% of pupils achieved above the upper quartile in Language and Literacy which is a significant improvement on 2013/2014 and 63% achieved the upper quartile in Maths. 100% of pupils achieved the median quartile or above in Science. Language and Literacy 51% of our pupils made at least 3 or more levels of progress in language and Literacy between Key Stage Two and Four (with more than 1 in 4 making 4 or more levels of progress). Language and Literacy 76% of pupils made above expected progress in Language and Literacy in 21% of pupils made expected progress

Mathematics 73% of pupils made above expected progress in Mathematics in 23% of pupils made expected progress. However 8 pupils did not make expected progress with 6 pupils at key stage 3,4 and 5. Although these pupils had health issues, interventions have been applied to rapidly improve performance.

In Key Stage One all pupils reached expected or above levels of progress in Mathematics in 88% achieved above expected progress.

Key Stage 1 Science Key Stage 1 Personal and Social Development All pupils reached expected or above levels of progress in Science in at Key Stage 1. 88% achieved above expected progress. All pupils reached expected or above levels of progress in Personal and Social Development in at Key Stage 1. 83% achieved above expected progress.
