Attendance for the last week of term was 97.2%
St. Stephen’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, a Voluntary Academy Newsletter 3rd November 2015 Attendance for the last week of term was 97.2% At the celebration assembly we put all the pupils with 100% attendance into a draw and a lucky winner was drawn out. Congratulations to Remek in Reception who received a family ticket to Thornton Hall Park. Congratulations to all the children and thank you to every family for working hard to get the children to school on time every day. The class with the highest attendance for the first half term was Year 2 with 98.6%. The Big Write To encourage creative writing the children have been taking part in ‘The Big Write’. They followed and investigated the clues around the school and then wrote a story about what the dragons have been up to in school…… ParentPay ParentPay has been introduced for children in Years 5 and 6. We will shortly be introducing it for children in Years 3 and 4. Please activate your account and you will be able to make payments for school meals, trips, planners etc quickly, safely and easily online. FOSS FOSS are raising funds for the school by selling a school tea towel. Each child will draw a self portrait to be included on the towel. Great for Christmas! See the letter to order. Orders returned by 10th November. KS2 planners Children in Key Stage 2 will be coming home this week with a planner. These planners will help the children to organise their work and also assist in home to school communication. A voluntary contribution of £3 is requested to assist with the costs of the planners. Please see the letter which has been sent home. Payments can be made for Year 5 & 6 on ParentPay. It’s a Bug’s Life Nursery are building a ‘Mini Beast Hotel’ and would love to receive donations of logs, offcuts of turf, pallets or terracotta pots.

Mass Times at St. Stephen’s church Saturday 5.00pm Sunday 9.30am Sunday 6.00pm The first Sunday in every month is Family Mass at St. Stephen’s church. Please come along and join us for Mass. Celebration Assembly If you haven’t been able to make it yet, please try to come along to the next Celebration Assembly on Friday 13th November. Come along to the school hall at 2.45 and help us celebrate the achievements and successes of our hard working children. Any spare lego or bike helmets? If so, Nursery and Reception would love to have them. Please bring them to the office. Year 2: Rhys, Lucy, Joshua. Year 3: Thomas, Jessica, Gabrielle. Year 4: Betsy, Daniel, Isobelle. Year 5: Kirsten, Ethan, Boti Year 6: Filip, EJ, AJ. Well done to everyone who worked hard at being the best they could be this week. This week’s House with the most points: St. Bernadette Well done to all those in St. Bernadette’s house. If your child has an achievement out of school, please encourage them to share this with us so that we can celebrate with them at our assembly. Space! Reception’s topic for this term is Space. Any donations of clean plastic bottles for junk modelling would be gratefully received. Friday 13th November – Celebration Assembly 2.45 pm in the School Hall. Monday 16th November – Theatre company to present “The Sword in the Stone” to the whole school. Wednesday 18th November – Anti bullying workshop for the whole school. Monday 16th November – Year 3 & 4 Parent Workshop 6 pm – 6.30 pm. Tuesday 17th November – MASS for Year 4,5 and 6. Year 6 parents are invited back to class afterwards. Friday 4th December – FOSS Coffee Morning and ‘Bobble Hat Day’ for the NSPCC. Saturday 5th December – Christmas Fayre in the School Hall from 1pm to 5pm. Tuesday 8th December and Wednesday 9th December – Nursery and Reception Nativity Play – times to be confirmed. Friday 11th December – FOSS Disco Tuesday 15th December – Y1/2 Nativity 2pm Thursday 17th December – KS2 Carol Concert in church at 6.30 pm. Sports News It is fantastic that so many children attend netball practice. A tournament will be held soon at Holy Family. Thank you for your support.
