20 Bright Futures Requirements
Florida Academic and Medallion Scholarship 4 English 4 Mathematics (Algebra 1 Level and above) 3 Natural Science 3 Social Science 2 Foreign Language (sequential, in the same language) The Academic Scholarship requires a 3.5 weighted GPA in core courses, 100 hours of community service, and a SAT of 1290 or ACT of 29 for grads in 2014, and 2016. The Medallion Scholarship requires a 3.0 weighted GPA in core courses, 75 hours of community service, and a SAT of 1170 or ACT of 26 for 2014, 2015 and 2016 grads.

Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholarship 4 English 4 Mathematics (including Algebra 1) 3 Natural Science 3 Social Science (US and World History, US Government, Economics) 1 Fine or identified Practical Art; or .5 credit in each 1 Physical Education (including health = HOPE) **3 years of classes in a vocational series Requires a 3.0 weighted overall GPA and a 3.5 GPA in the vocational classes. Requires an SAT of 440 in critical reading and 440 in math OR an ACT of 17 in English, 18 in Reading, and 19 in Math OR a PERT Reading 104, Writing 99, Math 113. Community service hours – 30 required.

Bright Futures pays a flat fee per credit hour towards tuition at the State rate University Academic $103 x 30 credit hours = $3,090 Medallion $77 x 30 credit hours = $2,310 Tuition to a State University is about $6,100 Community/State College – 2-Year Academic $63 x 30 credit hours = $1,890 Medallion $48 x 30 credit hours = $1,440 Tuition to a Community College is about $3,000

AmeriCorps is a structured 10-month program where students help those in need across America At the end of the program students will receive $5,000 towards their tuition This might be an option to consider for students who want to take a year off before starting college. Visit for more information

27 Federal Financial Aid Welcome Sally Kromer
Financial aid officer from FKCC for grants, loans and work study (free, borrowed and earned sources)

28 Federal Financial Aid Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) based on adjusted income from the parent and student incomes. Complete tax return as soon as possible to be able to apply near January 1st. Estimate if need be. State funds based on this application have early award deadline (May in Florida). Must have standard diploma to qualify!!! No longer REQUIRED for Bright Futures applicants
