Manage Public Health and Safety Oversee trade within Washington State Issue Licenses (Driver license, Teacher license, Fishing license) Run Elections Can’t declare war, create armies/navies, print money

Taxes Enforce Laws Build Roads Spending money to help people Education (mostly run by States)

Washington State Constitution
Washington State Constitution is the plan for the 3 branches of state government and the rights of the people. Washington State Constitution is 70 pages and the US Constitution is only 9 pages. Must follow rights in the U.S. Constitution

Head: Governor Jay Inslee (23rd governor of Washington) Duties: Enforcing laws within Washington, Responsible for State’s safety,, submits State budget to Legislature, oversees elections, Veto: reject a decision made by the legislature

Federal: Congress (House of Representatives & Senate) 100 Senators, 435 representatives State: Washington State Legislature (House of Representatives & Senate) 49 Senators, 98 representatives Local: City Council 7 Members
