When students dress for school, they are preparing to do something important!

No Pajamas or slippers Wearing pajamas and/ or bedroom/ house slippers is not considered appropriate school attire.

No offensive content No clothing that displays tobacco, alcohol, drugs, drug paraphernalia, sexual innuendo, or offensive words, pictures, or symbols

No Hats No headwear (except for religious reasons) to include but not limited to: hats, hoods, wave caps, sweatbands, bandannas, do-rags, skull caps, surgical caps, ear-muffs, scarves, baseball caps, picks, rakes, combs and beanies. Some approved fundraisers may include hats.

Head/hair accessories.

Safe Jewelry Only Any article that may be used as a weapon will not be permitted. Prohibited items include: Wallet chains, dog collars, knuckle rings, and spiked bracelets and necklaces.

Cold Shoulder tops (No spaghetti straps)
Yes! No!

Ripped Jeans There should be no slips, rips, or holes that reveal inappropriate areas of the body or are higher than 7 inches above the knee. A hole, equal to or larger than the palm of your hands is a dress code violation.

Leggings Solid leggings and yoga pants should be covered by a skirt or a shirt that falls to the middle of the student’s thigh.

Keyhole tops (the hole must be above the armpit line.)

Some “Mesh tops” Mesh tops : solid colors over undergarments, stomach, and inappropriate areas.

Dresses, Skirts, and shorts
Dresses, skirts, and shorts should be not shorter than mid-thigh. This rule applies even when the student is wearing tights, leggings, or spandex under the garment.

No gang display- no gang colors
NHS prohibits wearing or displaying any clothing associated with either the depiction of gang- related activities or gang colors worn with the express intention of promoting or displaying gang- related affiliations.

Failure to comply? Students who fail to comply will call home to receive a change of clothes. Repeat offenses will result in ISS or OSS depending on the frequency. Before the student can return, a parent must bring him/her for a mandatory conference with an administrator.
