3 Introduction There is no specific health services provided in the country As nurses we understand that we primarily care for elderly people in all settings across our health continuum We also understand that caring for elderly is far challenging in terms of understanding the normal physiologic changes associated with aging and the changes associated with disease. While we are having high life expectancy in our birthing facilities, how would we anticipate on the other end of our aging population?

4 Therefore, the questions are
If SPNF is the cure for universal Pacific health, how do we create the antidote? In terms of care, what qualities should we be looking for within the next generation of nurses in order to meet and attain population satisfaction?

5 Aim & Scope of the study This study has speculated that we are shifting towards a new era and thus expecting to have an aging population. Hence the study was designed to explore into the feelings of people who are seen as older adults with our current level of health services where nurses are being the major human resources on the ground.

6 Literature review Since the emerged of advanced health care system in our health continuum, A number of deaths had been averted due to improved health services, and living conditions (Health Report MHMS, 2013) High family violence abuse and neglect noted in a national survey in Israel in 2004 The same was noted in the national survey conducted in USA in 2011 There was a considerable % of financial abuse in elderly people noted in a study in India Gerontological nursing replaces the term geriatric in late 1970’s following various changes in the definition of health

18 Examples: (Outcomes)

19 Discussions Codes Themes Health services Nursing roles
Access to health Determinants of access Poor health services Inappropriate nursing roles Poor access to services and care Ignorance by staff and other influential patients Poor Health outcomes I understand that this is not quite important, however, I am convinced that within the next decade, Gerontological nursing would be one of the key strategic area for the MHMS and curriculum developers, donor partners and researchers will spend more energy on it.

20 Recommendation Provide better health access for elderly people
Attentive SOP for elderly people in our current systems Sensitize and advocate to bring this chair to the global table through the SPNF for universal gerontological nursing in the pacific
