Matthew 10:28-31 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
2
Matthew 10:28-31 29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.
3
Matthew 10:28-31 30And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

The Only Thing We Have To FEAR…
Larry Cline – Hardin Valley Church Of Christ – 7/30/17
6
Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heav’n and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant Friend is He: His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
7
His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;
Refrain: I sing because I’m happy, I sing because I’m free, For His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me.
8
I’m Not Afraid Because:
9
The worst thing that can happen in this life is the death of my body…
…and I am not a body I am a soul! Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Matthew 10:28)
10
29"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent
29"Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And [yet] not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. 31"So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31)

Fear “phobos” – 254 recognized phobias.
Psychology Today – 5 most common Arachnophobia (fear of spiders) Glossophobia (fear of speaking in public) Aerophobia (fear of flying) Claustrophobia (fear of confined spaces) Acrophobia (fear of heights)

The common thread in most of our fears or “phobos”, is the fear of death.
13
1The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear
1The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the defense of my life; Whom shall I dread? 2When evildoers came upon me to devour my flesh, My adversaries and my enemies, they stumbled and fell. (Psalms 27:1-2)
14
There is only one thing that we should fear
There is only one thing that we should fear. If we reverentially fear God there is never a reason to fear anything else.
15
I’m Not Afraid Because:
16
…the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (Matthew 10:30)
If God cares enough to number my hairs, He cares about the other details of my life! …the very hairs of your head are all numbered. (Matthew 10:30)
17
How many hairs are on your head?
Blonde = around 145,000 Black or Brown = around 120,000 Redhead = around 90,000
18
If God can number something as trivial as my hairs then He certainly knows everything else about me as well. He not only KNOWS but He cares. Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. (I Peter 5:7)
19
We make a big mistake when we think something is too small or trivial to bring to the Lord.
20
1LORD, You have searched me and known [me]
1LORD, You have searched me and known [me]. 2You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar.17How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God! How vast is the sum of them! 18If I should count them, they would outnumber the sand. When I awake, I am still with You. (Psalms 139:1-2, 17-18)
21
I’m Not Afraid Because:
22
He won’t stop loving me when I fail!
If God cares about a sparrow who falls. He won’t stop loving me when I fail!
23
23If the Lord delights in a man’s way, he makes his steps firm; 24though he stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand. (Psalms 37: NIV)
24
sold for two pennies?” (Luke 12:6a)
“Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies?” (Luke 12:6a) They were cheap and common
25
Who cares enough to count sparrows?
Only God!
28
Do you know how many times God says, ‘Don’t be afraid’?
every time you are afraid.
