3. Hawaii’s Origins/Measurements
Thousands of years ago, under sea volcanoes erupted and cooled. That created enough soil to form islands a.k.a. Hawaii. Studies show that every year Hawaii grows about 42 acres because volcanic eruption by Kīlauea. The peak of Mauna Kea is the highest point in the state of Hawaii, which is about 14,000 ft. above sea. Hawaii(stretching from East to West) is the widest state by 1,523 miles.

4. Hawaii’s Winds/Air Quality
70% or more of Hawaii’s winds are Trade Winds. They usually blow from the Northeast or East Northeast. They can blow about 5 to 25 knots. They also have winds called “Kona Winds” “which are stormy, rainy winds that blow over the islands from the SW or SSW in the opposite direction of trade winds.” “The western, or leeward sides of the islands, then become windward in this case, as the predominant wind pattern is reversed.”

5. Hawaii’s Plate Boundaries/Volcanoes
Hawaii is on a convergent plate boundary which forms volcanoes. It is in the Aleutian Trench. It is #3 on the top 5 states to have earthquakes in the US. Even though California have more earthquakes, Hawaii is 4.76 times more likely to have an earthquake because of it being a hotspot. Hawaii is far away from a fault line but all the volcanic activity puts enough stress on the Earth to cause earthquakes.

6. Hawaii’s Water
Hawaii’s water is some of the most CLEANEST water in the world, clean enough to drink. Because it is filtered by volcanic rock and not exposed by airborne diseases. The water temp averages degrees Fahrenheit depending on the season.

7. Hawaii’s Plants and Animals
Plants- Coffee Bean, Star Apple, Hibiscus, Blue Jade Vine, Koa Tree, Magnolia Tree, Palapalai and Cup of Gold( just examples of different types like flowers, fruits, trees, etc..) Animal-Northern Cardinal, Nene, Hawksbill Turtle, Racoon Butterflyfish, Giant Bufo Toad, Praying Mantis, Mountain Goats
