Have a PowerPoint, Word Document or Excel file open that you want to talk through before you hit the “Start Recorder” button

Print out your outline (work from a script) Find a quiet place & a quiet time Unplug your phone Know the bell schedule Lock your door – put a sign on the door “recording in progress” “Command P” allows you to write on PowerPoint files during presentation

Use “OPTION P” to begin recording
Resist the urge to speak to loudly Just a nice conversation voice PowerPoint has a “PEN” option that allows you to write on the screen* *written comments disappear once you go to the next screen

Use “OPTION P” to pause frequently
You can still scroll through your PowerPoint to: a) see what is on the next few slides b) review your outline c) take a drink d) catch your breath e) make any edits on your PPT, Word, Excel file……..

Use “OPTION P” to start recording again
When you have completed your recording use “OPTION P” to stop. Click on the “DONE” button

Saving the file may take 10 minutes or so to process depending on the length of the video Create a folder on your desktop titled “Sceencast-O-Matic Videos” Save files logically… ex: Radiometic Decay of Isotopes Writing a Thesis Statement Implications of the Vietnam War

Find a quiet place & a quiet time Unplug your phone Know the bell schedule Lock your door – put a sign on the door “recording in progress” Quick pause button – take breaks within a recording Pay attention to your time (15 minutes goes fast) Less is more Create a folder on your desktop for these files Create a logical or systematic way in which you name your files
