School Times Gates open at 7:00 – before this children will not be allowed in the playground. Arriving after 7:45am children will receive a late slip. School ends at 1:47pm Early dismal on Thursday 12.39 Parents can collect their children at the end of the day from the courtyard. If you are picking up your child after 2:00, please check the board on the secretary’s desk in the main entrance with the location of the late class Students will not be permitted to leave without a parent/driver present on campus (students cannot go to the car park unattended)

Curriculum We follow the Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP), for English, maths and science. Social Studies- Our communities and beyond Arabic / Spanish Islamic/ Global studies PE Music Art Qatar history Library- One lesson every week – children may take 2 books. Circle time – character building

Behaviour Management Positive behaviour is encouraged and supported using the ESLRs. Parents can expect a positive via iSAMS, in recognition of five ESLER awards Expectation of parental support at home. Team points are awarded and rewarded for this class

Homework - When home work is assigned, the goals are;
To complete work assigned in class To consolidate and extend work covered in class or prepare for new learning activities To access resources not available in classrooms To develop research skills To practice independent work To enhance students’ time management and self discipline The year group weebly will be updated with enrichment activities Please refer to parents handbook for further details

Reading Role of the parent is to listen and question your child when reading. Encourage the children to read books at home. Take care of the books – encourage children to handle them with respect After reading assessment, levelled books will also be sent home.

Absences It is important that children attend school for all designated school days. More than 36 days, the child will not be promoted.

Meetings with teachers and Administration
Make an appointment Ensure you state the reason for the visit so that the teacher can prepare for it Always begin with the class teacher, then the Assistant Principal or Co-ordinator. If your issue is still unresolved, make an appointment with the Primary Principal

School Uniform Please consult the Handbook for information regarding the school uniform. Please help us implement our student uniform by ensuring the children come correctly dressed when coming to school. On PE days children may wear the school PE kit.

Eating and Sleeping Very important that the children get to sleep early so that they are awake in class Healthy snacks are very important for the children’s wellbeing. Our school is a chewing gum free school.

Assessment Continuous assessment using the work the children do in class Observation of the child’s participation in class activities, group activities and individual activities. Summative assessments at the end of topics. Notice will be given of all assessments – please refer to the year group weebly

School Counselling Service at EMS Al Khor
The Counselling Service is an additional resource, well integrated into our student support system. Our School Counsellor meets with students on a range of issues relating to their social-emotional well-being and academic success. Our School Counsellor also provides Career Counselling services for our Secondary students. Parents with concerns relating to their child can make an appointment to meet with our School Counsellor. Counselling at EMS is goal oriented and strength based. Confidentiality is assured (in keeping with ethical guidelines). The Counselling Office is located on the 2nd Floor above the Reception Area
