7 Some people believe that success in life comes from taking risks or chances. Others believe that success results from careful planning. In your opinion, where does success come from? People have different views on how to achieve success. Some people believe that we should take risks to be successful, while others think careful and measured planning is the key to success. On the one hand, it is a fact that taking risks is one of the most important keys to success. Risk takers are smart and innovative people as they have creative ideas and dare to take chances. For example, in 2005 Steve Jobs, one of the most successful entrepreneurs in history, created the Ipad tablet which was a newly developed product at that time. Although there was a risk of failure, he launched the product, and in the end, the tablet became a sensational device all over the globe. On the other hand, some people believe the only way to success is through careful and precise planning. Careful planning teaches them not to give up, and to try to find many different ways to reach their goals. For example, a technology entrepreneur, May Medhat of “Eventtus Egypt” started to dream big while at college, and is today “on a mission to mobilize events” with Eventtus.com, a web platform and mobile app for events planning, networking and ticketing. Having been friends for over a decade, classmates in college, and partners on most university projects, Medhat and her co-founder Nihal Faris always dreamt of building something together and running a business. Medhat and her co-founder used to attend a lot of events and exhibitions together and always felt there was a problem finding out about these events in the first place. Could they make attending events easier for people all over Egypt? After attending many different workshops and researching carefully, Medhat and Faris realized there was a problem here that technology could address. Hence, one must take action, but carefully plan out a strategy and take it one step at a time. Overall, I believe that success in life is a combination of different factors. Careful planning, resilience, and wise and responsible risk-taking are all necessary ingredients in order to succeed, and achieve both short-term and long-term goals.

In today's world, many young people dream of becoming entrepreneurs. Self employment is an interesting and challenging lifestyle. A lot of people want to help make the world a better place, through volunteer work, service trips, or working with a non-profit organization. However, more and more successful entrepreneurs are looking for ways to combine “doing good” with profit. First of all, self employment offers many benefits. The main advantage is that one can choose the type of work according to their interests. A self employed person can manage his working hours on his own and can work at his own pace. Moreover, successful entrepreneurs earn huge salaries while affecting a major portion of the population. Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook is a primary example. But being a successful entrepreneur is not only limited to creating “social networking” websites. Some entrepreneurs have even managed to combine a successful business with the idea of “giving back to the community.” Many successful entrepreneurs volunteered or performed community service first, and used these ideas to help humanity. For example, Heather Hasson of “FIGS USA”, a clothing company, volunteered in Africa and met children who were unable to attend school because they lacked a school uniform. Heather decided to start her own clothing company “FIGS”. For every classy necktie FIGS sells, a child in Tanzania or Kenya gets a free school uniform. The key point here is that volunteering gave her the business idea. If she did not volunteer, she would never have thought of the idea in the first place. Furthermore, CEO Laila Sedky of “Nola Cupcakes” in Egypt also uses her business to help others. Laila Sedky was a volunteer herself before starting Nola. Now as CEO, Nola supports the Ahl Masr Foundation and many other healthcare organizations in Egypt. Her company helps spread awareness about these organizations by recruiting volunteers both in Egypt and internationally. This is another amazing example of “giving back to the community”, while operating a successful business. Hence, these are very impressive and well-rounded individuals. Thus to conclude, I believe that the entrepreneurial track can definitely change lives. International volunteering and community service are never a waste of time. As we have seen, by reading, researching, attending workshops, conferences and spending your time with motivated and interesting people, these are the keys which help make someone a successful leader, and hence, a successful entrepreneur.
