When will my child start school?
We will be visiting all of the children who are joining us this year at home in September. Children will begin by spending only the mornings or afternoons with their new class and then build up to include lunch and an afternoon session. Your child’s transition into school will be included in the information pack that will be collected at the end of this presentation. All children will begin full-time school from Wednesday 21st September.

Top Tip: Label EVERYTHING!
What will my child need? To wear their school uniform. To have a pair of wellies that remain at school. To have a school book-bag. To have a P.E. kit in a draw string bag. To bring a healthy snack for snack time (optional). Top Tip: Label EVERYTHING!

What happens on our arrival at school?
You are more than welcome to come in with your child to settle them in to school. A happy start to the day is really important. School begins at 8.50am. We would anticipate by 9.00 most parents will have left but if your child needs an extra 5 minutes that is fine. We will begin to ask parents to say their ‘Good-byes’ at the door later on in the year.
12
Lunch: school dinners or a packed lunch?
It is your choice. All children are entitled to a free school meal or they can bring a packed lunch. You can change between the two choices throughout the year, on a half termly basis . An example of a menu is in your pack.
13
What will my child’s day be like?
Play underpins all development and learning for young children. This is why we develop our learning environments and teaching styles to facilitate learning in this way.
14
What does my child need to be able to do before they begin school?
Wherever your child is in terms of their development is wonderful. There are however a few fundamental skills that will help your child to become more independent.
15
Summer holiday tasks A sheet of Summer Holiday tasks has been included in your pack which includes these skills. Please complete honestly and return to school on your child’s first day.
16
When will my child begin to read?
We begin the mechanics of reading early on in September. Our reading scheme and phonics programme will be explained to you at a meeting in the Autumn term.
