15 THE MADNESS PROJECT OTHERS OF YOU USED SIBELIUS TO CREATE AN ARRANGEMENT OF THE SONG ADDING IN LOTS OF NEW MUSIC. THESE YEAR 8 STUDENTS WERE COMPOSING AND ARRANGING. MUSIC IN YEAR 9 continues with these elements through other styles and pieces.

16 YEAR 9-TWO PROJECTS IN SEPTEMBER, WE STUDY THE BLUES.
THIS PROJECT GIVES YOU PLENTY OF OPPORTUNITY FOR PERFORMING, COMPOSING, LISTENING AND APPRAISING.

17 YEAR 9-TWO PROJECTS LATER IN THE FIRST TERM WE CARRY OUT A PROJECT ON FILM MUSIC AND WRITE OUR OWN MUSIC TO SHORT FILM TRAILERS, INCLUDING TRAILERS FOR A JAMES BOND FILM. WE WILL ALSO CONTINUE TO COVER THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF MUSIC IN PREPARATION FOR THE WORK IN YEAR 10, SO IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU HAVEN’T TAKEN ANY THEORY.

18 WHAT SKILLS WILL I NEED TO DO WELL IN GCSE MUSIC?

YOU WILL NEED TO COMPOSE TWO PIECES OF MUSIC. IT WOULD MAKE SENSE TO WRITE A PIECE FOR YOUR OWN INSTRUMENT. YOU COULD USE SIBELIUS, YOU COULD USE REASON, LOGIC, CUBASE, GARAGEBAND OR MANUSCRIPT PAPER AND A PENCIL.

24 WHAT SKILLS WILL I NEED TO DO WELL IN GCSE MUSIC?
THERE WILL BE SOME SET PIECES TO LISTEN TO AND LEARN WHICH ARE ON THE NEXT SLIDE. THERE WOULD BE SHORT ANSWER QUESTIONS TO COMPLETE AND AN ESSAY TO WRITE. THIS IS THE LISTENING AND APPRAISING PART!
