Description Benefits VVX Business Media phone and VVX D60 Base Station Pairing via MAC Address The Polycom UC Software allows the end user to pair the VVX D60 Base Station with the VVX Business Media phone by updating the configuration parameter of the VVX D60 The feature improves the end user experience, saving time and efficiency for easy pairing to the VVX D60 base station Register Handsets to the VVX D60 Base Station A minimum of one and a maximum of five handsets can be configured for a VVX Base Station Improved efficiency and expending the capabilities by allowing up to 5 VVX D60 base stations to be registered to a single VVX Business Media Phone VVX D60 Base Station Manual Pairing Administrators can control whether users are allowed to manually pair and un-pair a base station with a VVX Business Media Phone Improving efficiency and saving time while offering the ability to manually pair and/or unpair a VVX D60 base station Hand Off Between VVX D60 Handsets and VVX Business Media Phones When twinned VVX D60 handsets are connected to the host VVX Business Media Phone/This feature is available for local shared lines (VVX+DECT lines) Provides seamless workflow operation for the VVX D60 devices
6
Broadsoft Directory Integration
Functionality Ability to search the various directories provided - contacts added to the personal directory are now available on other devices and on the phone Benefits Access to the same directory contents on any device desk phones, the UC-One client on a PC or the UC-One mobile client - overall, improves the end user experience and efficiency while saving time Pain Point Service providers who use BroadSoft need the ability share directory information across all devices registered to an end user could not make use of the BroadWorks directories - in the past we were only supporting the Enterprise directory Changes UCS now supports all the available BroadWorks directories, including Enterprise, Group and Personal directories and presents them to users on the VVX. The ability to search the various directories is also provided. Contacts added to the personal directory will be available on other devices as well as on the phone. Benefits A single user can now have the same directory contents on whatever device they may be using, including other desk phones (such as at a home office), the UC-One client on a PC or the UC-One mobile client. Overall, improves the end user experience and efficiency while saving time Directory Limitations At present it is not possible to set a particular contact to be a favorite from the phone. To make a contact a favorite, a user would have to make the change on the client, at which point it would appear as a favorite on the phone The directories are dynamically built based on queries to the server. If the interface to the server is down, directory information will not be populated. Additional Feature Now that Broadsoft directories are fully supported, customers may chose to not use the Polycom directory at all. A new configuration parameter has also been introduced to allow a service provider to hide the Polycom directory on the UI. It will still be possible to populate the directory, and if the appropriate file is on the server it will be loaded, but users will not be able to get access to the directory to view, add, modify or delete entries. This is useful in the situation where favorites are being used as a way to present EFKs on line keys or where there is a particular number that all phones must have (such as an emergency front desk) but the SP does not want the end user to see it in the directory.
7
BroadSoft Call Logs Functionality
Phones will contact the BroadWorks server and pull down call logs that are maintained by the server. -these call logs will include any calls made to or from any device that is associated with the same registration Benefits Consistent call logs across multiple devices & improved Flexible Seating functionality as call logs will now follow the end user when logged into different devices Pain Point The current call logs implementation relies on the phone storing all the incoming and outgoing calls. If a call is handled on a separate device, it will still be shown as a missed call. Changes Phones will contact the Broadworks server and pull down call logs that are maintained by the server. These call logs will include any calls made to or from any device that is associated with the same registration. Benefits Keeps call logs consistent across multiple devices. Improve the Flexible Seating functionality as call logs will now follow you when you log into different devices.
8
BroadSoft Server Based Call Waiting / Redial
Functionality The server-based call waiting feature enables the server to manage incoming calls while a user is in an active call. When a user changes, the call waiting state, the phone sends a request to the server to update to the new state Benefits Simple way to manage incoming calls via the server-based call waiting feature Pain Point Currently, if you have multiple end points (desk phone, mobile, PC client etc) connected to a single registration, any change to the call waiting state will not be reflected from the phone to other devices and vice versa. Also, if you wish to call the last number dialed from your mobile on your phone, you can’t do that as the phone only takes it’s last number dialed locally. Changes Similar to the Server based DND and Call FWD, the call waiting state will now be pulled from the server. Changes to the state on any devices will be sync’d to the phone. Last number Redial will use the last number dialed from that account on any device rather than just one the phone. Benefits Links the state of key services between all endpoints registered to a single user. .
9
Two Way Active Measurement Protocol (TWAMP)
Functionality Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol (TWAMP) allows measurement of round trip time to check the performance between two network devices (e.g. check round trip time between VVX and SBC) Benefits Enabling increased security and network performance Pain Point As networks grow and more endpoints are deployed, understanding the behavior of the network becomes more important and more difficult. Service providers need to be able to understand where they may have issues with network performance without having to deploy additional network probes. Changes VVX Phones now provide partial support for RFC Support is partial as VVX phones will only act as a session reflector and will not be capable of initiating a TWAMP request. Any TWAMP request received by the phone will be processed and a response will be generated that may be collected by the device initiating the request. Benefits Allows VVX phones to act as network probes for the purposes of understanding the behavior of the network. This is similar to the way that ping can be used to measure round trip times.
10
Caller ID Display from the SIP Invite
Functionality This feature enables the end user to specify which SIP request and response messages to use to retrieve caller ID information and specify their priority Benefits Allows real-time caller ID information displayed via SIP invite Pain Point Currently our VVXs can be configured to derive caller ID CID information from the network. It selects the P-Asserted identity or Remote-Party-ID from any message that contains that information. This is particularly a problem in networks where different network devices can service a call. Changes This feature enables the service provider to specify which messages should be used for caller ID information, for example limiting the caller ID to information provided in an Invite and not a 183 response. Benefits Ensures the correct caller ID is displayed, regardless of the network device that services a call.
11
Remote Party Disconnect Alert Tone
Functionality If an active call is terminated by the far end, the phone will play a tone to indicate to the user that the call has ended and the far end is no longer connected Benefits This feature improves end users experience and efficiency to create a specific tone for an alert of disconnected calls. This feature is ideal for users with impaired vision Pain Point When the far-end user disconnects a call, there is no way for a user to know that the call has ended without looking at the screen. For users who have impaired vision this can be problematic. Changes If an active call is terminated by the far end, the phone will play a tone to indicate to the user that the call has ended and the far end is no longer connected. Benefits Users will informed in a non-visual manner that a call has ended, improving the overall user experience, particularly for users with impaired vision.
12
Update to OpenSSL Library
Functionality When configured, the idle browser will display when the phone is idle, along with the associated soft keys, and then when the phone goes off hook, the browser remains visible Benefits Increases overall reliability and security by reducing potential hacking opportunities and provides an integrated experience for users who expect phones to be simple devices configured exactly as the hotel gives it to them Pain Point The version of the OpenSSL library that we have been using has a number of known issues, particularly with TLS 1.0. These issues create security vulnerabilities that can be exploited to cause problems for our service provider customers, including fraudulent calling. Changes When configured, the idle browser will display when the phone is idle, along with the associated soft keys, and then when the phone goes off hook, the browser remains visible. Benefits Provides an integrated experience for users who expect phones to be simple devices configured exactly as the hotel gives it to them, without any changes as the phone goes off hook..
13
FIPS 140-2 Compliance Support
Functionality Polycom UC Software allows the end user’s phone to work seamlessly when using the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS 140-2) compliant cryptography. An administrator can configure the phone to use the FIPS compliant cryptography using the enabled configuration parameter Benefits Improved increased security feature enabling network level efficiency Pain Point Currently, our VVX phones do not support FIPS 140-2, barring us from many US Federal opportunities. Changes When configured, the phone will make use of the advanced Crypto functions provided by FIPS 140-2 Benefits Access to federal opportunities that require FIPS support. There is no end user benefit beyond additional security offered by FIPS.
14
VVX Business Media phone and VVX D60 Base Station Pairing via MAC Address
Functionality When the Ethernet cable is connected from the base station LAN port into a LAN outlet, end users can manually select to pair using via the MAC address Benefits The feature improves the end user experience, saving time and efficiency for easy pairing to the VVX D60 base station Pain Point D60 loses pairing with VVX if the VVX IP changes in case IP based pairing. This is causing D60’s to lose pairing with VVX in some SMB environments where VVX and D60 are at different floors or at some distance lose pairing whenever there is a change in IP. Changes When the Ethernet cable is connected from the base station LAN port into a LAN outlet, you can manually select to pair using the MAC address. If the phone is already configured with a MAC address using configuration parameter, you can choose Skip. Benefits MAC Address is always a constant and with this mechanism D60 always try to pair with the configured VVX.
15
Register Handsets for VVX D60 Base Station
Functionality A minimum of one and a maximum of five handsets can be configured for a VVX Base Station Benefits Improved efficiency and expending the capabilities by allowing up to 5 VVX D60 base stations to be registered to a single VVX Business Media Phone Pain Point There is no way to configure the max number of headsets that can be configured for a Base station which is causing some performance issues Changes You can control the number of handsets that can be registered to the VVX D60 base station. A minimum of one and a maximum of five handsets can be configured for a VVX D60 base station. This is configurable from the VVX business media phone and Web Configuration Utility. Upon pairing, the VVX business media phone makes sure that maximum handsets registered to the paired VVX D60 base station is lesser or equal to the configured value. After reaching the maximum limit of handsets, the VVX D60 base station and the VVX business media phone does not provide any mechanism to register a new handset. The administrator can use the parameter VVXD60.handset.maxCount to configure this feature Benefits Admin has the full control over how many headsets that can configured through configuration/ web UI/ Phone UI. Also can remove any unvailable headsets to clear resources and add new headsets if required
16
VVX D60 Base Station Manual Pairing
Functionality Administrators can control whether users are allowed to manually pair and un-pair a base station with a VVX business media phone. Benefits Improving efficiency and saving time while offering the ability to manually pair and/or unpair a VVX D60 base station Pain Point Currently, our VVX phones do not support FIPS 140-2, barring us from many US Federal opportunities. Changes When configured, the phone will make use of the advanced Crypto functions provided by FIPS 140-2 Benefits Access to federal opportunities that require FIPS support. There is no end user benefit beyond additional security offered by FIPS.
17
Hand Off Between VVX D60 Handsets and VVX Business Media Phones
Functionality Customer can simply press a Soft key to handoff the call from the VVX to handset and vice versa Benefits Provides more seamless workflow operation for D60 devices within the enterprise Pain Point Customers cannot handoff the call between the twinned lines on the VVX to D60 and vice versa which is a major use case for a D60 phone connected to VVX Changes Customer can simply press a Softkey to handoff the call from the VVX to handset and vice versa. Benefits Seamless connectivity across the go without much hassle.
