6 Mentoring: Every Session Counts
Stage 1 (August to October) Meet once a month, building Trust, establishing roles, understanding interests, motivations, and values, set goals together Stage 2 (November to January) Mentor/Mentee feel more comfortable with each other having formed a firm foundation, traction on goals has begun, and building networking among other PLP members and mentors Stage 3 (February to April) Goals are being accomplished or are complete, mentor/mentee relationship is continuing to grow, set future expectations of relationship

7 EXAMPLE ACTION PLAN Fall Professional Learning and Development Goals
Make SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time bound) Goals that relate to improving your scorecard. An example of a SMART goal would be “I will attend a networking events this semester, speak with 3 people about their career, and get 1-2 business cards to follow-up.” Use the comments section to update your SD on your goals. How are they going? Have you achieved them? What else needs to be done for you to achieve them? Take this page with you for your SD one-on-one meeting and mentor meetings.
