5. ASQ RECERTIFICATION JOURNAL APPLICATION
Recertification is based on an 18-Point Recertification Unit (RU) Program
RUs can be earned from 9 individual categories
Each category has a maximum limit for allowable RUs claimed
RUs must be earned during the 36 month certification period
All category activities must be in the pertaining certification(s) body of knowledge or be directly job enhancing/related
Employment RU credit must fall in the pertaining certification(s) body of knowledge

6. ASQ RECERTIFICATION RUs by Category
(A) Professional Development:
0.1 RU per contact hour
1.0 CEU = 1.0 RU
9.0 RU Maximum
Includes conferences, seminars and workshops sponsored by company or technical organization
ASQ World Conference = 1 RU/day
For all other conferences, refer to the individual conference brochure for
CEU or credit listings
Documentation Required:
Proof of attendance: Name badge, sign in sheet, certificate of completion etc

Activity description: Program, schedule, outline showing date and hours attended

(B) Employment:

Memo from employer on company letterhead verifying employment dates and job duties

8. ASQ RECERTIFICATION RUs by Category
C. COURSES—INSTRUCTOR CREDIT:
(CREDIT FOR TEACHING OR LEADING COURSES)
College Course per semester/quarter = 1.5 RUs
Non-College Course: 1.0 CEU = 1.5 RUs or 0.15 RU per hour of instruction
10.8 RU Maximum
Must be associated with the ASQ BoK being certified for OR job enhancing
Taught in addition to regular job responsibilities and verified in writing
Documentation Required:
Letter from sponsoring organization verifying the course title, dates, and hours instructed or
Course outline or description that documents the instructor’s name, course title, and dates

9. ASQ RECERTIFICATION RUs by Category
D. Student :
1 Semester Credit = 1.0 RU (College Courses)
1.0 CEU = 1.0 for non-collage, ASQ or company sponsored courses
0.1 RU per contact hour if no CEUs stated
9.0 RU Maximum
Must be associated with the ASQ BoK being certified for OR job enhancing
Note:
This category is for educational courses and does not cover short duration classes where grades are not given
Self-paces study does not qualify for RU credit
Documentation Required:
Official college transcript verifying attendance and semester hours
Certificate of completion with dates, hours, subject matter etc

10. ASQ RECERTIFICATION RUs by Category
E. ASQ Section Meetings other Technical Societies:
0.3 RU per section meeting
0.3 RU per workshop / tutorial
10.8 RU Maximum (was 9.0)
Documentation Required:
Section meeting sign in sheet for meetings attended
F. ASQ Committees:
2.0 RUs per committee, per year for elected officer
1.5 RUs per committee, per year for member leaders
Ad-hoc member activities 0.1 RU per hour spent (2.7 maximum)
8.0 RU Maximum (was 6.0)
Memo from Section Chair stating committees involvement and applicable time frame
