Under the Code of Conduct banks must do the following: Provide consumers with reasonable notice of fees, charges, terms and conditions and notify consumers of any changes; Allow consumers access to their information at a reasonable cost; Keep customer information confidential; Keep language in contracts simple and clear and provide consumers with a fact sheet and/or identify key terms for consumers’ attention; and Establish effective complaints mechanisms and communicate those to consumers.
