3. Purpose
The Former Prophets chronicle the history of Israel in the promised land from the leadership and conquest under Joshua, through the chaotic era of the Judges, the failed monarchy of Saul, the flawed monarchy of David and the progressive decay of his sons. All of this is presented from a prophetic perspective of the nation as a whole.
