3. Scope of Regulations:
All existing HID efficiency regulations apply to Metal Halide Lighting Fixtures (MHLF).
Metal Halide (MH) ballasts that are sold separately (replacement market) are not subject to the regulations.
Efficiency of MHLF is defined as efficiency of a MH ballast inside the fixture.

4. DOE 2017 Regulations
Applies to MHLFs from 50 Watt to 1000 Watt used in general lighting applications
A general lighting application is defined by DOE as, “lighting that provides an interior or exterior area with overall illumination”.

5. DOE 2017 Regulations
Each metal halide lamp fixture manufactured in, or imported into, the United States on or after February 10, 2017, must contain a metal halide ballast with an efficiency not less than the value determined from the appropriate equation in the following table:

7. CEC Title 20 MHLF wattage range: Same Requirements as DOE 2017.
less than 150 Watt and greater than 500 Watt manufactured on or after February 10, 2017
That includes 150W fixtures for “wet locations”.

8. CEC Title 20 MHLF wattage range: from 150 Watt to 500 Watt
excluding 150 Watt MHLF for “wet locations”
The compliance is based on the four following options:
1. A minimum ballast efficiency of:
i. 90 percent for 150 to 250 watt lamps; or
ii. 92 percent for 251 to 500 watt lamps.
2. A minimum ballast efficiency of 88 percent and an occupant sensor which is an integral control, shipped with the factory default setting to automatically reduce lamp power through dimming by a minimum of 40 percent within 30 minutes or less after an area has been vacated;
3. A minimum ballast efficiency of 88 percent and an automatic daylight control which is an integral control, shipped with the factory default setting to automatically reduce lamp power through dimming by a minimum of 40 percent;
4. A minimum ballast efficiency of 88 percent and a relamping rated wattage within only one of the four wattage bins specified in subsections (i) through(iv) below. The luminaire shall be able to operate lamps within only one of the four wattage bins and shall not be rated for any lamp wattage outside of that wattage bin. The luminaire shall have a permanent, pre-printed factory-installed label that states the relamping rated wattage.

iv watts, provided that when a luminaire is able to operate 336 to 500 watt lamps, the luminaire shall be prepackaged and sold together with at least one lamp per socket, having a minimum lamp mean efficacy of 80 lumens per watt based on published mean lumens and rated lamp power (watts).

9. CEC Title 20 MHLF wattage range:
from 150 Watt to 500 Watt
excluding 150 Watt MHLF for “wet locations” (continued)
Indoor MHLFs shall comply with option 4 from the previous slide and shall also comply with at least one other compliance option (options 1, 2, or 3).
Outdoor MHLFs shall comply with at least one compliance option 1, 2, or 4, and may comply with option 3.

10. Ontario and NR Canada Regulations
On September 1st, 2017, Ontario regulation 404/12 takes effect
Aligns itself with the new DOE efficiency standards for MH ballasts sold in fixtures.
In May 2016, NRCan issued a Notice of Intent to align Canada’s Energy Efficiency Regulations for MH ballasts with DOE requirements.
The regulatory proposal will be pre-published in the Canada Gazette approx. in May 2017.

All Universal Lighting Electronic HID Ballasts comply with DOE-2017 efficiency requirements.

14. Samples Process
Customers may obtain (for free) a limited number of samples, provided they will share the evaluation test results with Universal Lighting Technologies.

Customer’s UPS or FedEx account number, and method of shipping (Ground, 2-nd day, … , etc.)
Note: Currently, there are approximately 25 pieces of samples per model available. Samples will be shipped out on a first come, first served basis. Once this initial stock is depleted, lead time will be involved.

High efficiency replacement models have same dimensions as their current counterparts.
The UL temperature code of high efficiency models is same or lower comparing to current models
