7th Grade December 20 & 21, 2016 SWBAT: Distinguish safe and unsafe/kind and unkind online behavior through a discussion and creation of a #MakeItHappy project

2 starter Have you ever heard a mean comment being made about someone else?  If so, write down the situation and/or comment. Have you ever seen a mean comment about someone online?  If so, write down the situation and/or comment.

3 Toothpaste activity Need a volunteer
Squeeze the toothpaste onto the plate and call our student leader names while you squeeze it out Now put it back into the container

4 Toothpaste summary It is impossible to the put it back – the toothpaste will NEVER BE THE SAME Remember this plate of toothpaste for the rest of your lives How much weight your words carry and how it affects others You have the opportunity to use your words to hurt, demean, slander and wound others. You also have the opportunity to use your words to heal, encourage, inspire and love others. Just like this toothpaste, once the words leave your mouth, you can't take them back. Use your words carefully. When others are misusing their words, guard your words. Be known for your gentleness and compassion. Use your life to give life to a world that so desperately needs it. You will never, ever regret choosing kindness.
