2 March 2011 – The beginning Delivered by The Active Women Consortium.
Aims to get 29,700 young women living in disadvantaged communities more active, more often by boosting opportunities for them to play sport within their local communities. Activities are tailored around the needs of women living in the most disadvantaged areas in England. “The advantage is there is a support system in place and they have a number of projects all across the country doing similar areas of work, hopefully we can share ideas & see what works in other places… plus they do training courses which assist in your understanding” Exceeded target already or almost – participant, coaches, tournaments participants latest figures Qualifications – amber, close to Volunteers & peer champions – challenge – ref Us Girls Alive. 3 August 2011 – Sign up begins for our Us Girls Champions

4 October 2011 – Us Girls President Appointed

5 1st Us Girls Conference: Getting Girls Active
November 2011 – 1st Us Girls Conference: Getting Girls Active The Journey so Far. Engage, Share, Learn – it’s your time! 2 days 70 delegates Hosted by former Olympic badminton player, Donna Kellogg MBE.

6 Partnership with Women’s Sport Net
December 2011 – Partnership with Women’s Sport Net Launch of Women’s Sporting Calendar – to coincide with all male SPOTY shortlist Record Us Girls website hits 2 Us Girls Parliamentary Ambassadors appointed Partner steering group takes place

7 March 2012 – IWD & Us Girls Games
1000 young women, 20 towns/cities Range of Olympic Sports tried as part of a 12-day festival of events. “This should run every month. I know lots of ladies who will be interested once I tell them how fun it was!" Us Girls Games Participant.

8 April 2012 – The halfway stage!

9 Us Girls & The Olympic Games
July 2012 – Us Girls & The Olympic Games #GirlsTimeToMakeItHappen - a campaign to develop and grow the number of organisations delivering good sport for young women and to connect Us Girls Champions to local projects. Network doubles from original 50 funded organisations to 100 signed up at part of Us Girls.

11 Launch of Us Girls Rocks
October 2012 – Launch of Us Girls Rocks 6 regional festivals Girls only! 650 participants 30 volunteers NGB involvement New projects Wide range of sports Hair, beauty & lifestyle activities Special guests Girls to transitioning to clubs. “It gave me the opportunity to do sports I wouldn’t normally do”

12 Launch of Us Girls Alive Programme
November 2012 – Launch of Us Girls Alive Programme DoH funded October 2012 – 2015 15 areas – 2 phases 30 monthly wellbeing/lifestyle clubs – ‘interactive magazine’ 4 Us Girls Motivators per club Link with health commissioners & deliverers. Establishing 30 Us Girls Alive Club via 120 Us Girls Motivators DoH health & social care volunteering fund 2yrs funding per area Pilot new way of developing & delivering services – traditional sports dev volunteer model not working Activity & fitness at the heart of the programme (activity at session optional) Lifestyle activities to attract new girls Signpost to activity sessions (incentive vouchers and activity challenges) Health input eg smoking, alcohol, drugs Us Girls Motivator input into design of the clubs. – committed participant, part of friendship groups, confident & chatty, believes in the value of being active, prepared to take part in training, knows whats on offer for girls in local area.

13 January 2013 - Hosted by Radio 5Live reporter Jacqui Oatley
Featured Us Girls President Nicola Adams MBE & fellow Olympians Sarah Stevenson MBE (taekwondo) and Sophie Cox (judo). 120 delegates - existing & new to network First ever Us Girls Awards Panel discussion on women’s sport in disadvantaged communities. Us Girls advocates High profile speakers and panellists – community sport & elite athletes Ambitious programme 2 days Excellent feedback.

14 February 2013 – Gear4Girls launched
Donations from England Handball, The FA, Kits4Causes, Rounders England. “My Gear 4 Girls campaign is about providing young women and girls in areas of need with equipment and clothing, so they can access sport, enjoy it and get active” Nicola Adams

15 April 2013 – Final stats! 34,481participants 875 new coaches
694 volunteers 245 peer champions 1232 new qualifications 379 events/festivals. 17 April 2013 – What’s next Assimilate Us Girls into the mainstream delivery of StreetGames core business Ensure Doorstep Sport Clubs fully consider the needs of young women in the planning of the programme Continuing the roll out of the Engaging Women and Girls Training Academy workshop Support FE colleges in disadvantaged areas to establish girls-only programmes Continue to support NGBs to get more young women from disadvantaged areas into their sport Continue to roll out the Us Girls Rocks festival programme Work with Women's Sports Trust & Womens Sport Net to share insight, provide leadership and help raise the profile of women’s sport.
