2. Learning Target: We will describe how people from various racial, ethnic, and religious groups attempt to maintain their cultural heritage while adapting to the larger Texas culture.
Success Criteria: I will create a poster collage of the different cultures and traditions they brought to Texas.
Language Objective: We will compare various culture groups in Texas society today.

3. Defenitions
Cultural Diffusion- the spreading out of culture, culture traits, or cultural pattern from a central point.
Cultural Diversity- the existence of a variety of cultural or ethnic groups within a society.
Assimilation-  is the process by which a person or a group's language and/or culture come to resemble those of another group.

4. Celebrations/Holidays
Texas Folk life Festival- The Texas Folk life Festival is the biggest cultural celebration in Texas! More than 40 different cultural groups in Texas are represented at the festival, and each year, more than 250 participants come together to celebrate their culture and heritage.

5. Wurstfest
Wurstfest is a festival to celebrate the German culture. The German festival is a week long festival to celebrate the German heritage with the traditional clothing and also the sausages.

6. Quinceanera
 Is a celebration of a girl's fifteenth birthday in parts of Latin America and elsewhere in communities of people from Latin America. This birthday is celebrated differently from any other as it marks the transition from childhood to young womanhood.

10. Assignment
The assignment: with a team create a picture collage of things that make the culture of Texas unique among the states. Posters must include:
 1. A map of Texas showing large cities, major rivers, and towns named after at least 5 major immigrant groups (Spanish, French, German, Vietnamese, etc.)  
3. At least three (3) holiday traditions or unique celebrations. 
4. At least three (3) unique food items deemed typical to Texas. 
5. At least three (3) architectural styles found in Texas buildings or building materials unique to Texas.
