Visual Art Welcome to Sculpture Learning about Visual Art is your path to becoming a creative and innovative problem solver that demonstrate s proficient use of the principals and elements of art and design. Personal connections to your personal artwork will help you define your role in contemporary visual culture. Wait! There’s more! You will also : Read, Write, Analyze, Interpret, Compare and Contrast…and then, you will also make some pretty pictures. Expect to be busy! Expect to do more than draw and mix paint! Hard work and a willingness to learn and grow (as an artist and an individual)… these are MY expectations for all students. What are YOUR expectations of me? me with suggestions (or questions)! Teamwork makes the dream work! What to E xpect How 2 Succeed in Art -Good Attendance- -Engaged Participation- These are your top priority for best results. Due to the nature of the course, all demonstrations, direct access to supplies and peer feedback for preliminary revisions are “in class” experiences and events, and often cannot be duplicated. Poor attendance and/or lack of participation in class will have negative results on your final grade. -FYI - The Fine Arts program at HPHS follows a county-wide system for calculating grades and weights (50/20/30%) Read and Initial HERE Return by Sept 1st . Grading Absences Grades * Supplies* Work, sketchbook assignments, and all warm-up activities missed during an EXCUSED absence are to be turned in one week after return. It is the student’s job to obtain assignment information. The materials are found in the Student Art Resource area by window. . 50% Classwork: This includes art projects, participation and level of engagement/ effort 20% Homework: Sketchbook/Visual Journal (graded weekly) and research/prep as assigned, and varies project/materials and availability of supplies. 30% Assessments: Ranges from vocabulary assessments to technique application and performance. *Sketchbook Spiral or book-bound preferred. NO lines! White, heavier weight paper preferred, but not required.. *Pencils Regular #2 pencils. NO Mechanical pencils! *Colored Pencils Any brand/type of set will work, you need a variety of color options Storage shelf space provided for all art materials. ******************** SEPTEMBER 1st deadline .
