Bachelor’s in ENT – What’s the Difference?
Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) MET focuses on applied analysis, and design of mechanical components of mechanisms, machines, and systems of machines. Sound engineering principals are applied to the development of industrial and consumer products, usually within the scope of design teams. The program requires a thorough understanding of applied mathematics and the engineering sciences. Electromechanical Engineering Technology (EMET) The curriculum focuses on electro-mechanical instrumentation and process control. This field incorporates elements of both electrical and mechanical engineering technology. Integration of the electrical and mechanical components takes place through courses that emphasize the development and control of automated industrial systems through the use of artificial intelligence, graphical user interface, and electro-mechanical systems design. Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology (ECET) primarily emphasizes the applied aspects of science and engineering and prepares graduates for work in that portion of the technological spectrum closest to product improvement, industrial processes, and operational functions.

What is a +2 in ENT? Miami University delivers 13 engineering technology courses (34 distance credits) to students enrolled at 12 Partner Colleges. Students take prerequisite courses (which include bridge courses) and the Ohio Transfer Module at their home campus. ENT distance learning courses are generally offered Monday-Thursday in the evening via interactive video conferencing and web-supported technology, supporting working students.

+2 Completion Degree Breakdown
Students complete an Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field of study at Miami or Partner School. Examples of Associate Degrees: Associate of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Associate of Applied Science in Electronics Students complete the Ohio Transfer Module (OTM) at their home institution. Must complete entire OTM to transfer for Miami Plan Foundation Students complete prerequisite course work outside of their A.S. program needed for Miami’s ENT programs. Prerequisite work includes Physics, Chemistry, A.S. level Engineering Technology Coursework, Mathematics, and more. Students complete Broadcasted +2 ENT coursework from Miami at their home institution. Utilizing Interactive Video and Web conferencing technology, ENT broadcasts live class sessions to distance sites. Students are required to be present in the classroom at the distance site and participate as any local student would. Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology +2 Electro-mechanical Engineering Technology +2 Mechanical Engineering Technology +2 +2!
