Creating E-learning activity for Art class for KS1 and KS2
My idea for e-learning activity is to see if e-learning tools other than PowerPoints can be used in an Art class as an activity. My e-learning activity will be focusing at KS1 and KS2 in their art classroom.

E-learning in Art class
Art in national curriculum helps pupils engage in a creative way which inspire and challenge them with the knowledge and skills to experiment and create their own work of art (DfE, 2013) The subject content for KS1 and KS2 pupils in their art class would be for them to be able to use a range of material creativity to design and make products to express their ideas, experience and imaginations with the help of drawing, painting, sculpturing, using different techniques like colour pattern. They teach about the work of a range of artists, craft makers and designers, describing the differences and similarities between different practices and disciplines, and making links to their own work. Use of e-learning in Art can be that it is very stimulating and can lead onto a great variety of activities. Teachers can help plan a lesson with help of internet where they can show children with different types of techniques and look at various types of artist

Lesson Plan For my e-learning activity, I will be Planning my session by first making a lesson plan which will be in a from of a video. I will be creating my videos on different topic of art, to do that I will be creating my videos on a web based video creating tool PowToon. I will be focusing my videos on colours how you can create different types of colours, materials that can be used for different types of techniques. For this presentation, I have created a sample video for one of the session I will be planning. I have used screen recording tool to screen record video for my presentation.

My E-learning tool After each video based learning session I will have a short activity to see how much of knowledge. This link with what I want to do for my e-learning activity as I want to create an art quiz based activity for children to help them learn better. The tool that I have decided to use for this activity is Kahoot!. It is a web based learning tool where students can study various topics through flashcards, speller, tests and more. Kahoot! uses playful and colourful graphics and audio to increase the engagement of children. Wang (2014) state how based on the observation and feedback in his investigation of teachers using Kahoot! It showed how there is a vast difference in the result a game based class has compare to non- activity based class. It showed how children were more energetic and more engagement in the classroom when it was game based. Kahoot! Is a safe way to use as an activity as students are not required to have an account to play. To enter the game they simply need to enter a game pin followed by a nickname. When playing the quiz, the questions along with the answers are shown on the large screen and the students can press the same colour and symbol as the answer they believe is the correct one. It also shows who got the highest and lowest scores and who have gave right and wrong answer.

Malone (1980) theory of intrinsically motivating instruction
Piaget (1962) learning through play Malone(1980) theory of intrinsically motivating instruction lists three categories to make things fun to learn; challenge, Fantasy and curiosity. This can show link with Kahoot! as it was designed with these categories in mind, where children felt challenged to answer questions to try to beat other players, fantasy is to be part of a game show and curiosity is provided both through inviting graphics and audio as well as solving a cognitive puzzle. Kahoot! focusses 100% on engaging and motivating students through a game experience where students compete. Piaget (1962) learning through play links with my tool as it shows how children development through participation in a group or by themselves which lead to them developing more into being able to reason and participate in competitive games.

Access to My e-learning Activity
Video: PowToon BLOG ( PDF- Poster with Kahoot! Website link and pin Number For my activity I will be doing Art quiz on things like different colour, material, artist and painting. I will share my activity on my Blog ( where I will create a Pdf with poster that will have the web link of Kahoot! and the pin number of my activity that can be accessed by people. I will also have step by step information one how to access the quiz for parents and children who want to access it at home.

Cognitive Load theory To assist learners in transferring information from their working memory to their long-term memory, we need to present the information in such a way that it reduces irrelevant items and, if possible, increases germane cognitive load (items that assist with information processing) Remove non-essential content ( I will be asking simple forward question to make it easy for children to process) That can be done by Presenting some information via the visual channel and some via the verbal channel ( For PowToon I will have both visual and verbal information for children and for Kahoot! I will have more of visual things then verbal ) Breaking the content into smaller segments and allow the learner to control the pace which can help in processing information easily.

Multimedia Principles
12 Principles of Multimedia Learning Spatial Contiguity Principle Temporal Contiguity Principle Multimedia Principle Spatial Contiguity Principle – People learn better when corresponding words and pictures are presented near rather than far from each other on the page or screen. Temporal Contiguity Principle – People learn better when corresponding words and pictures are presented simultaneously rather than successively Multimedia Principle – People learn better from words and pictures than from words alone. I have used both pictures and word in my presentation as it is far better to have picture and words rather then words alone. Pictures and words are presented near rather than far from each other in the presentation. I have also used the pictures and word together rather than making the pictures come in with timer to make it less distracting.
