Types of Federal Financial aid
Loans – Direct Loans Federal Subsidized Loan Federal Unsubsidized Loan Federal Parent PLUS Loan Grants - *HINT* - Financial Aid Terms Defined Federal Pell Grant – *amount based on Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) – Awards vary Federal Work Study A bi-weekly paycheck is earned based on the hours worked. *Please note – Loans must be repaid

Financial Aid Process – Federal Parent PLUS Loan
Credit Based– when a parent applies for the loan, their credit score is reviewed by an external party. The loan may be approved or denied. *Please note – if a Parent PLUS loan is DENIED, the student would then be eligible to receive up to an additional $ towards the Unsubsidized loan. Must be applied for annually at: studentloans.gov

Cost Of Attendance Cost of attendance includes: Tuition, fees, room, board, transportation, books and supplies and miscellaneous Direct Costs: Tuition,Fees,Room & Board Indirect Costs: Transportation, Books/ Supplies, Misc. Direct Costs – are those items charged initially to the student by the University upon enrollment. Indirect Costs – are those items that a student may be charged or need in order to attend the University, such as books and loan fees.

Grades and Financial Aid
Students are evaluated yearly for Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Two Components: GPA and Pace GPA – Students must maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 Pace is the calculation between Attempted Hours and Earned Hours, and needs to be maintained at a minimum of 67%. GPA and Pace need to be maintained in order to remain eligible to receive Financial Aid

Agreement Continued 4. If I do not pay all of my costs, these consequences may apply: a). I may be withdrawn from my classes b). My meal plan may be cut off c). I may be asked to vacate the residence halls (if I live on campus). 5. If I borrow loans, I must pay back those loans or make arrangements to pay them back upon graduation or leaving CSU. 6. Financial Aid “Next Steps” Checklist
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Priority Deadline – January 31, 2017 Step 2 View the Financial Aid Award online via MYCSU Step 3 If selected, complete Verification and Submit Additional Documents, if required by June 30, 2017 Step 4 If applicable, have the parent apply for the Federal PARENT PLUS Loan at and/or set up a Payment Plan by June 30, 2017 Step 5 Complete Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note(s) at: by June 30, 2017 Step 6 Confirm ALL requirements have been satisfied by August 1, 2017

Communication MyCSU Portal – Central State University’s portal allows for 24/7 access to Financial Aid information. Additionally notices are sent via MyCSU . It is paramount that students follow directions and timelines.
