So this is our current LEADER area – a population total of just over 150,000 and covering the Yorkshire Wolds as whole. This means that 4 local authorities work together in partnership to help deliver the programme of activity across the area.
3
Theme of the CWWW Programme
To utilise the unrealised potential of the area’s heritage and culture to stimulate local vibrancy, encourage enhanced pride in place, and thereby improve the area’s economic prosperity.

Rural Heritage Support Project – what LEADER does best – bringing people together to achieve results locally Partnership with English Heritage which kick started the project. 4 main areas Heritage at Risk/Monument Management Scheme Small grants Heritage Open Days Strategic development e.g. Wolds Looking forward - ongoing partnership working with e.g York Archaeological Trust, CPRE & local communities with the developing Wolds Landscape project & English Heritage with further development Hope you have all had a chance to look at the project display at the end of the room. The project had 4 main areas. The highly successful Heritage At Risk and Monument Management scheme which Trevor has talked about. This has in fact brought in £xxx of funding into the area. The project funded 20+ small grants and also brought in over £xxx of match funding to date. The projects were largely small local heritage initiatives with local community groups involving training, events and interpretation all contributing to an enhanced sense of place. The Heritage Open Days in our area has been a huge success – starting off with just 6 places participating when the project started in 2010 and has now grown to 56 this year. VHEY will now take over the co-ordination of this as we hope it will continue to grow each year.

Adlingfleet Medieval Rectory.
“Without LEADER's support we know that these renovations may well not have been possible at this stage, and that this important medieval building might have deteriorated beyond repair. David Bull's enthusiasm and efforts have been a key part of this, and we have written to him as well to express our gratitude. We feel that LEADER has been an invaluable catalyst for heritage projects such as ours which will hopefully benefit the local area for many years to come.”

“In my personal view, a splendid job as LEADER-funded Rural Heritage Officer in the East Riding. I’ve heard many people say what a positive contribution he has made to all sorts of enterprises in this region, especially committees and groups of volunteers seeking to preserve our rural heritage. The post of Rural Heritage Officer seems to have been a most successful initiative during the life of this LEADER programme.” Comment from LAG Member representing the Local Access Forum
