11 Summery Madame Loisel is unhappy with her life. She is pretty and thinks she should be rich. Her husband is fine with there way of life. He gets tickets to a very fancy ball. She is upset with this because she doesn’t have a dress. Her husband buys her a dress for 400 francs. She is still upset because she doesn’t have and jewelry. She borrows a necklace from her friend. She losses the necklace and replaces it with another just like it. This necklace took them 10 years to pay of. After 10 years she runs into her friend and tells her what had happened. Her friend told her that the necklace she had given her was a fake.

12 Conflicts Major conflict
The conflict of this story is person vs. self. The conflict is that Madame Loisel is upset with how much money she has. She believes because she is pretty so she should be rich. Minor conflict Madame Loisel borrows a necklace from her friend to wear to a ball. She losses the necklace and buys a new one just like it. It takes 10 years to pay off. At the end Madame Loisel told her friend what had happened. Her friend told her that the one she gave her was a fake.

15 Literary Elements Epiphany: When she gets home and realizes the necklace is off her neck. Atmosphere: The emotional climate of the story is depressed because it must feel bad to loose the necklace and work 10 years of your life to pay for the necklace. Symbol: The symbol is the necklace and it represents hard work and to take careful of your stuff.

16 Important points Madame is unhappy because she isn’t rich and she feels like she deserves to be. Yes I do think the author wants us to sympathize to madams unhappiness. Monsieur Loisel try's to make Madame happy by getting her tickets to a fancy party and letting her buy a nice dress with his gun money.
