Invasive species 1. Is there any indicator of this type developed in your country? Austria: Under development Belgium: Yes, an indicator for alien species established since The worst ones (some) being monitored. Cost data being collected. Bulgaria: No official indicator established Czech Republic: Official ias lists published. Indicators will be produced (e.g. proportion alien/native) Denmark: Yes, same as SEBI2010 as regards cumulative numbers. A national list of worst ias. Estonia: No official indicator Working Group 1: Eionet nature October 2007

Invasive species 2. Is there any problem of definition linked to this indicator? Definition of ’alien’: Time of introduction 1492/1500 50-years back (older introductions considered native) ’Archeobiota’ before 1700 (scientific judgement) – 1600/1750 Working Group 1: Eionet nature October 2007

7 Working Group 1: Eionet nature October 2007
Invasive species 2. Is there any problem of definition linked to this indicator? Official/ Legal definition of ’invasive’: Belgium has an ’official’ classification system based on impact and invasion stage as a basis for the type of list an alien species is placed. EC is expected to present guidelines for actions 2008 Invasive species officially identified by Austria. Working Group 1: Eionet nature October 2007

Invasive species 3. Is there any database/dataset ? Austria: Yes a national survey of ias was carried out in 2002; Invasive species distinguished from all the alien Belgium: No established dataflow; specific monitoring of (some) of the worst. Costs of eradication (some species) are collected. Bulgaria: Scientific data being collected. Discussions on creation of a national database. Czech Republic: Good datasets established on plants, fragmented data on animals Denmark: Yes (Nobanis) Estonia: Datasets collected by different institutes Working Group 1: Eionet nature October 2007
