CalFresh – Federally known as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, can add to your food budget to put healthy and nutritious food on the table
Medi-Cal – Health program serving low-income individuals

3. County medical services (cms)
CMS is 100% funded by County dollars
CMS assists medically indigent adults who are not eligible for other government health care programs
CMS (0-165%FPL) – the beneficiary has no share of cost
CMS Hardship (166%-350%FPL) – the beneficiary may have a share of cost
All CMS applicants must be first evaluated for Medi-Cal and determined ineligible
A CMS applicant is NOT eligible for CMS if s/he meets any of the following:
Is determined linked to Medi-Cal eligibility
Is enrolled in Medi-Cal
Is enrolled in Medicare
Is enrolled in a Covered California Health Care plan or in any health care coverage plan that meets the Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) requirement under ACA

5. Capi Cash Assistance Program for Immigrants = CAPI
State Funded program
Provides cash assistance to legal immigrants who do not qualify for SSI/SSP due to their immigrant status
Conditions of Eligibility
Customer must apply for SSI if he/she is over 65 years of age, or claims to be disabled
Must provide denial letter from SSI, clearly stating SSI claim denied due to immigration status
Meets income and property limit
Resident of California

6. General relief (gr)
State-Mandated, County-funded Self-Sufficiency Program
Temporary Cash Assistance for eligible County residents who are not supported by resources such as other State or Federal programs, family members, or other organizations
Employable customers eligible to 3 months of GR assistance every 12 months
Aid received must be repaid
Job training hours may count toward repayment of GR paid
Basic Eligibility Requirements:
Adult aged 18 through 64
Resident of San Diego County for at least 15 days with intent to reside
U.S. Citizens and Qualified Aliens are eligible
Income must be below $337/month
Property limit is $1000
Not a fleeing felon

7. Welfare-to-work (wtw)
WTW program is an employment services component of CalWORKs to help recipients achieve self-sufficiency
The program helps participants obtain employment through job readiness and job search activities and other employment-directed activities
Supportive services, such as child care, transportation payments and/or work- related expenses, are available to WTW participants

8. Family stabilization
A component of CalWORKs that provides temporary services to families experiencing an emergency.  FS services are offered in addition to existing CW programs (i.e. Temporary/ Permanent Homeless Assistance, WTW supportive services, etc.).  FS services are available for all eligible family members (adults and children) living in the home who are experiencing a crisis or circumstances that cause instability
Services may include:
In-depth case management
Emergency Intervention
Supportive Services
Homelessness Prevention Services (limited housing/utility assistance
Transportation Emergency Assistance (limited help for essential vehicle repairs)

9. Family stabilization (continued)
Support to engage in or transition back to Welfare-To-Work activities
Referrals to:
Individual counseling/therapy
Family counseling/therapy
Parenting classes and support
Assistance with coping skills
Mental/Behavioral Health, Substance Abuse and Domestic Violence Services
Community-based services for various emergencies

10. HOMELESS ASSISTANCE Once-in-a-lifetime Benefit
Available for CalWORKs applicants and recipients only
2 Basic Types – Temporary & Permanent
Temporary
Pays for 16 Consecutive Days in a Hotel
$65 per night for Household of 4; $15 per extra HH member up to 8 (up to $125)
Available to both applicants & recipients
Permanent (2 Types: #1 New Housing & # 2 Retain Housing)
Only available to recipients for the purpose of:
Obtaining new permanent housing or
Retaining current housing

11. Housing support
Housing Support program provides assistance to CalWORKs recipients experiencing barriers to self-sufficiency due to homeless or housing instability. The program provides services to obtain and maintain permanent housing
Services Available:
Case Management: Assistance addressing issues impeding access to housing (credit check, resolution of legal issues, improving basic financial literacy); referrals to appropriate services
Housing Navigation/Identification: Landlord recruitment and retention services; assisting households to find and secure appropriate housing
Financial Assistance: Financial assistance related to covering emergency shelter, move-in costs, deposits and rental/utility assistance. Financial payments for rental assistance are provided in the form of a rental subsidy, and individual need will be evaluated throughout the duration of the program 

12. Subsidized work experience
Subsidized Work Experience Program
Subsidized Work Experience program is a subsidized employment program that provides paid on-the-job training to Welfare-To-Work (WTW) participants to become job ready and transition to the Expanded Subsidized Employment (ESE) program.
Subsidized Work Experience is a core WTW activity that is intended for individuals who are not job ready but have already acquired basic job skills through past training activities

13. Subsidized employment
Expanded Subsidized Employment (ESE) Program
Employers receive reimbursements for wage costs while the participant is in the ESE program
Eligibility is based on 3 factors:
1) CalWORKs eligibility,
2) WTW participation, and
3) Job readiness
ESE helps job ready participants obtain employment that will lead to self- sufficiency

14. Employment and training (E&T)
SNAP Grant – In September 2014, San Diego County was awarded $1 million in a SNAP Participation and Technology Improvement Grant
Developed a virtual training website for E&T participants
Virtual Job Club is a voluntary program:
To assist the participant in enhancing skills that employers are looking for to increase the potential of employment
To assist the participant in developing new skills that can be transferred to employment
To increase participants self-esteem and confidence
