2. Why do we have judges? 我们为什么有裁判？
are neutral arbiters of the game
run consistent and fair tournaments
make the game friendly and fun for all the players involved
answer calls
help to fix mistakes
ensure the integrity of MTG events
are ambassadors of the community, helping players, store owners, and judge candidates
help make MTG a great experience for players!

3. Value that a judge can bring to a tournament 裁判带来什么价值
Helping the players feel welcome, safe, and equal
Helping the tournament run smoothly and on time
Helping make the tournament space comfortable
Pushing in chairs, cleaning up pack wrappers, etc.
Some stores have lots of employees to handle these things. Other stores do not.
Taking away work from the TO – that’s part of the reason they’re ‘paying’ you!

4. What does this have to do with foreign players? 这个跟外国拍手有什么关系？
As judges, we need to ensure that all players receive the same treatment.
We are MTG’s ambassadors, which means we represent MTG and need to welcome all outsiders.
We should encourage welcoming behavior in other local judges and players.

5. Differences between Chinese and foreign players 中国拍手和外国拍手的差别
They come in many different types.
Some only play EDH
…and some only play Standard.
Some only play Constructed
…and some only play Limited.
Some only play competitively
…and some only play casually.
Some just learned to play
…and some have played since Alpha!
You are meeting them because you share the same passion: MTG.
When you meet a new player, ask them what their exposure to MTG is. By asking a few questions, you can help them find a good fit into your community.

6. Differences between Chinese and foreign MTG players 中国拍手和外国拍手的差别
Most foreign players speak English.
Most Chinese players speak Chinese.
Many foreign players aren’t very secure in how long they are going to be in your city. Many Chinese players will stay in the same city for a long time.

7. How can you make foreign players feel more welcome? 你怎么欢饮外国拍手？
Learn their name.
Talk to them.
Speak just a little bit slower.
Make announcements in both English and Chinese.
Use a little bit less slang when you talk to them.

8. Some Helpful Tips Use technology. Be mindful of how things appear.
Take small steps.
Make it a ‘team effort’.
